So I just realized that my HDMI only actually outputs 1080p to my TV when I duplicate the displays. If I set the computer to output to HDMI only, some sort of weird scaling kicks in (all scaling options are disabled in the nVidia control panel) - 1680x1050 actually looks more full screen that 1920x1080 does unless I duplicate the display. The computer says its 1080p, the TV says its 1080p, but the image is not 1080p.
Can anyone help with this? Really odd behavior.
The TV is a Sony KDL55W802A and I specifically bought it for gaming. It doesn't have this issue with my laptop with an Intel HD 3000 driving it so it must be something the nVidia drivers are doing, especially since it works properly when mirroring but who wants to game while being distracted by a second screen? As soon as I close the lid, it goes back to single display which causes everything to blow up again.
It has the same behavior when its in 3D mode as well.

It looks much better. Looked kind of stupid having huge fonts on a 55" screen just a few feet away from me lol.
Need some help... Odd HDMI behavior on my NP9377
