I'm missing a few screws for my p170sm-a and I was wondering if there was a better option than paying 30 dollars for a specific replacement package. Does anybody have a list of generic designations for however many types of screws they have in this thing? I especially need keyboard screws, the cd assembly screw, and screws holding down the plastic stuff (around) the heatsinks and fans. Not the screws actually holding down the fans and headsinks themselves.

You will have slight trouble finding the keyboard screws.

The screws that hold the plastic and the fans are easy to get, just go to a junkjard, find any broken notebook, take it home and get the screws, they should fit no problem. I lost a couple of screws myself and took the screws from a dead HP.

The caddy/CD drive screw is thinner than the case and fan screws, I had to replace it as well and simply took a battery screw from a macbook (lul).

    Find service manual
    Look up part lists
    Buy on amazon/ebay/aliexpress

Most case screws are M2.5 iirc. When I was last looking I saw mixed bunches of screws from M1 thru M6 for 10ish usd. A small bunch of any particular screw should only be a few bucks. May take a while in shipping if coming from China.
