I have a P750ZM that has died and replaced it with a P770ZM-G that I bought used. The P750ZM has the following hardware available for reuse:
32GB Corsair Vengeance 2133 DDR3L RAM
i7 4790K processor
980m Video Card
Killer 1202 Wireless AC
XP941 512GB PCIe X4 SSD
1TB 7200 RPM HD
2TB 5400 RPM HD
4k Samsung 15.6 inch display
The P770ZM-G runs currently has the following:
32GB Samsung 1600 DDR3L RAM
i7 4790 processor
970m Video card that has been flashed with Prema's vBIOS and supports G-sync
Killer 1525 Wireless AC
Samsung 950 Pro 512GB NVMe X4 SSD
1TB 7200 RPM HD
IF it was you, what would you transfer from the 750 to the 770? I am thinking this:
i7 4790k
32GB Corsair ram
Is it possible to run a non G-sync 980m in place of the 970m w/G-sync on this system? I fully admit that I haven't looked into the difference in the cards (if there is a difference) or how hard it is going to be to flash the 980m with Prema's vBIOS.
which is better between the Killer wireless cards?
Is the 950 Pro better than the XP941?
What about the other hard drives?
After I get the P770ZM-G up and running after the upgrades, I am going to start selling parts from the P750ZM to help offset the cost of buying a new system.

Pretty sure the Killer 1202 is just Wireless-N, stick with the Killer 1525. Stick with the 950 Pro, it's NVMe vs. the AHCI XP941.
You can use the non G-Sync 980M but you won't be able to use G-Sync. To "convert" the 980M from the non-Gsync version you need to modify the resistor straps to change the PCI ID to match the G-Sync 980M and reflash to the G-Sync VBIOS, so it's not as simple as just flashing the VBIOS. -
EmberV - would you stick with the 970m G-Sync over the 980m or do the swap? I would like your personal opinion. Hell, I have no idea what G-Sync does really and am under such pressure at the moment that I can't comprehend much on my own.
It sucks having a Father whom is fighting for his life at the moment. He is a brittle diabetic that suffers from dementia and undergoing dialysis 5 days a week. So, you can see why I am distracted. -
I am doing that EmberV but I need to get this done also before Wednesday. I have to return to Mexico (where I am currently living) then so I can do some stuff with my graduate school that cannot be delayed. I won't be able to return to the US (unless there is an emergency) for 3 or more months and just want to get this done. I am probably going to either sell the P750ZM for parts or part it out before I leave so keep an eye on eBay!

I'd probably take the 980m over the 970m with GSync. The 980m is going to have better performance and will run longer before needing to be upgraded. The GSync would maybe look better, down the line, when the computer can't quite hit that 60fps mark. GSync makes it so the graphics card and monitor are creating the frames at the same time, so there is no screen tearing. It generally tries to eliminate screen tearing, but doesn't help at 60fps, but more so around like 30 to 50 fps. So the 980m would help get better performance longer, and the 970m just makes your picture look better which might be better some time in the future.
I hope you are able to take care of your father, and everything goes as well as it can. -

And for the games the 970M can run well over 60 FPS, Vsync can help eliminate screen tearing. For the ones it can't, it's not a deal breaker (unless it is).

I would take 980M + standard panel over a 970M + G-sync.
The standard panel can probably be overclocked to a decent level too to help make up the difference. -
Take the 980m if you intend to have the machine long time. More need for power than G-sync

Thank you all for your input. I am going to move the 4790k and the 980m over to the new system and sell the 4790 and the 970m w/ G-sync as working parts.
I am going to buy a new system after nVidia releases their new cards. I bought a P770ZM-G as my "temporary" system. -

Pretty nice temporary system, if you ask me.

Some "successful" men collect cars, some collect women. I collect computer hardware. I have been through a divorce before so I think that I will be smart and keep my collection pieces below the cost of a mid-80s Mustang and then upgrade the heck out of it. When the new 1080-based laptop comes out, I will get on my knees and beg "the boss" to see if SHE will let me buy one. I have already been buttering her up for awhile.
I wear the pants in this family. She just tells me which ones.Mr. Fox and Prostar Computer like this. -
