Hi. I'm a little desperate right now. I'm trying to get the top half off the machine so I can have access to the power button assembly so I can try and clean it. My PC is getting ridiculous and is giving me black-screen shut downs like crazy because the power button is tripping and "holding itself down". I got rid of the random shutting down issue by disabling the button in windows, but it appears it can still do this, and there's no way to disable that.
Anyway, I need to know:
1 - Do I need to remove my CPU/GPUs/etc to get the top half off the system? I've so far removed about 18 screws via following the disassembly manual I got, but it does not actually tell me how to separate the top and bottom halves. Which I need to do. If this is the case I'll probably need to repaste the computer which will likely make me more annoyed because I can't due to lack of any sort of paste.
2 - Can someone show me a step by step instruction guide (preferably video) on how to do it? It's unrelated but I'm quite ill at the moment and I'm sleep deprived and my patience is a bit short, and my brain does not wish to think very much.
If anyone can please help me with this I would be forever grateful.

Prema listed all the service manuals at tech inferno:
[REPAIR] Clevo Service Manuals -
Yes, I have the service manual. It does not tell me how to remove the top half from the bottom half. I used it as best I could, but the only clear instructions are for CPU, GPU, RAM, HDD, Wifi, HDD, Battery and Keyboard replacements.
The rest of it is simply a cross section diagram that lists EVERY SINGLE SCREW and detatchable thing, but it doesn't list what they are... just the actual part numbers. So I am unable to see the answers to what I need. Hence why I asked for preferably video. -

2. I don't know of any disassembly videos or in-depth guides for the P370. Hopefully someone can find one (or if one presents itself, I'll report back with it).
Feel better soon! -
Somehow I think it's more my AC adapter is broken and causing my button to trip somehow... but it can't hurt to clean it out at least.
And yes, I will be very careful. Believe me, I've had to spend much much much more money than I thought I would on this god forsaken machine without seeing a lick of an upgrade; I'm NOT going to break it further >_< -

Really?? I mean yes, if you're removing the whole board, you do need to remove your components and heat sinks + fans. I don't remember the power button assembly being that difficult to access though. Good luck with the project! It may take awhile, but it can be a fun learning experience.

Well that's why I was asking if I *DID* need to remove the mobo to access the assembly. They told me yes, you told me I probably didn't. I figured if I could get the top half off (I already know how to disconnect and reconnect everything from under the keyboard) then I would be able to access the power button without much hassle... but I think some screws I need were under things like my main GPU or something. I could be wrong though, but that's why I was asking here haha.
And yeah. It will definitely be a valuable learning experience I guarantee that... but it doesn't mean I have a reliable usable PC right now, and my university courses have begun since the start of september. And the fact that I do need to repaste means I need to get paste which means I need to wait on somebody to be able to get me paste because they don't sell anything halfway good in this country, which means I need to order some... which I can't do because my card expired earlier in this year and I've not been able to get a new one because I am considered unemployed and they won't give it to me (even though it's a DEBIT VISA, meaning it has to be pre-loaded with cash from my account and cannot go into a negative balance).
In other words, I am a bundle of annoyance and stress, and I've been having this problem since march. -

@all of the other issues...that's quite a repertoire! Sometimes the adage "when it rains, it pours" holds true. All good things in their time though, I suppose. And at least you have the community here to help whenever we can.

Yes indeed. And yes, when it rains it pours for me. It's a hell of a thing, what tech likes to do to me. Oh well.
I do always come here to help and get help as needed XD. But okay. I'll just have to power through it for now. I left it off for over 2 days; hopefully the power button gods will give me a couple weeks' grace period that I can use it now.Prostar Computer likes this.
