    Hey All,

I currently have the system in my signature below; but I'm finding it's not cutting it anymore and playing Battlefront isn't silky smooth. So it's about time for me to buy my next system...

Is now a good time? Are there "new" systems, coming out that I should wait a few weeks for? What is the comparable system to what I have now? (15 inch screen, top end GPU, i7 etc..)

Help a brotha that's been out of the laptop game for a few years since my last purchase (from Malibal)

I don't expect we will see any new systems launching right now as everyone is kind of in there holiday dash at this point. Likely most systems won't launch till the beginning of next year at this point. Most of the anticipated launches have happened within the last couple months so overall probably a good time to buy.

Top of the line 15.6" might be a Sager NP9758 or Clevo p750DM they use a desktop cpu and can have the 980m in it which is the highest you can get right now with a 15.6". Another one worth checking out would be a Sager NP8658 / P650RG, again a 980m GPU, with a laptop CPU. You would really want at least a 970m or higher for battlefront, so the NP8657 or P650RE would be another good one to potentially look at.

Closest current models would probably be a W650RC or an N155RD. No optical drive and a new, slimmer design than yours on both of those. If you want to take it up a notch, but not get too crazy, look into the P650RE; that has a GTX 970M in it (still no optical drive, though).

There's nothing due for immediate release. If you see any new models, you won't see them until 2016. With the current sixth gen CPUs having been released not long ago, now is a pretty good time to pull the trigger on something new.

    N155RD has an ODD

EDIT: hmm, maybe you meant they both have an ODD. W650RC

    The P650RE does not.

It's definitely a good weekend to be shopping, as this weekend is probably one of the best times of the year to get some deals.

N155RD seems to be the replacement for your model based on specs.

But the P650RG to me is the replacement model. I'd get this one with the 970M if you want a replacement equivalent.
