Replacing a dead GPU (AMD 6990M) with new one (NVIDIA 680M)

Anyways, after installing the card in the computer it holds on the splash screen (usually it'll say CPU/Memory configuration but it's all blank where that should be) for 30 seconds, beeps, 30 seconds, beeps then it boots up to the OS. Now, another interesting angle to this upgrade is that I'm running a 32-bit OS so some of these modded drivers around aren't detecting the card at all. Hm...the card is certainly working though since I'm typing this on the machine in question.

OLDER POST (SOLVED): Alright this part is physical, but how do you release the GPU that's slotted in the motherboard after you've removed the heatsinks? I tried lifting it and all it does is creak. I've tried pushing it out of the slot and it creaks, but never budges. Is there something else that needs to be unscrewed somewhere? What is the correct procedure on getting this dead GPU out? Do I need to attack from the keyboard side as well? Thanks.

Immediate and helpful responses are greatly appreciated. There's a time limit to do this for the day.

Nevermind, there are deceptively peg-like screws that you need pliers for instead of a screwdriver. Anyways, keeping topic open through to completion of this project.

Alright so I installed the video card (an upgrade from 6990M to 680M, installed its X-bracket and changed thermal pad pattern to match). However, at poweron I get an American Megatrends screen with no information on the installed system components. It stays on this screen then beeps every 30 seconds. What does that indicate and what would be the next step(s)?

Dude...a flathead would have worked fine. You NEVER need to forcibly remove anything from a MB...maybe besides those little plastic pegs on desktops

Did you flash the bios with one that supports the 680M? I'm pretty positive it isn't just plug and play.

Somebody would have to provide some directions/links as to how to do that.
