I've been anticipating my purchase of the Sager NP5750. It is nearly perfect for me. Then I look at my current computer and I realize that I love the glossy screen. I feel like once I purchase, I'm going to regret getting a laptop with matte and be stuck with it. Can anyone shed some light on the matte display? Any switchers from glossy to matte?
    Thanks in advance.

It's totally, absolutely a preference thing. If you're wedded to the glossy screen, you may feel some regret. Conversely, I've known people who loathed their new glossy screens and went back to matte. Have you previously owned a matte-screen notebook? You can always stop by a retailer and check out some machines with matte screens to see if they tweak you the wrong way.

I use a glossy desktop monitor which is much brighter than my Sager's matte. However, I don't have any second thoughts about getting a matte on the Sager. It still looks good to me next to the glossy, plus is considerably easier on the eyes. I'd take a trip to an electronics store and see some mattes in person. Not that big of a change imo.

It is a personal preference thing. I had a glossy laptop that was nice. I now have a matte laptop, which in the end I think I prefer due to the lack of reflections and glare. Both are good and it depends on what you want. I think that having seen both, I am now a matte person.

I second Chaz's suggestion about going to a local store to look at the two and get an idea for which you will like better.

In the end, though, they aren't that different unless you'll be working with a bright overhead light behind you or with a lot of people moving around behind you. Then, the matte would work well.

Thanks for all of the advice. I have never owned a matte display notebook before. Any retail stores that would have a laptop with matte displays?
