Would I be okay with going with stock? Or is the upgrade worth the additional $25?

Like many would say, it's all about what you're going to use your laptop for.

im not a fan of stock hardware parts. I read in DevilTech forums(deviltech is a german clevo reseller) that the stock realtek card has terrible issues with "n" standard signals. I have an Intel Centrino 6230 that has bluetooth and im perfectly satisfied with it so I reccomend it. (Damn typing trough a phone takes forever)

Yea, not a big fan of stock parts, either. It's just that the price that I'm looking at now is exceeding my initial budget.

Save 25$ for the better WiFi adapters from Intel. Don't bother getting Realtek and upgrading down the road, 'cause then you are going to have to either return your laptop to be upgraded or do it yourself, which I dont reccomend (wifi exchange is not as easy as RAM upgrade). And of course then you will be stuck with a realtek that you need to sell.......

Not worth it. Best get a laptop with the core components being high-grade. Leave only HDD and RAM to upgrade, they are easy to do.

Sound advice, I will do that.

This is a bit off topic but I'll ask here since I don't want to make another thread:

How is your Clevo P150HM's screen in terms of backlight bleeding? Every screen I've gotten in the past couple of years have had some kind of defect, including backlight bleeding and uneven colors, so I'm trying to decide whether or not I should go with the $75 screen protection plan.

Just my 2 cents. Upgrading the wifi card for my P151HM took about 3 minutes for the first time including reading the manual. But overall, checkout your internet bandwidth on your wireless since you wont benefit from improved card if you cant use its potential.

One major reason to go with the Intel chip - driver support. Finding Realtek drivers is a pita, while Intel makes it easy. Have an Intel chip now and am very happy with it.

Also, remember that the $75 display warranty is only a "no dead pixel" guarantee. It is not a full "if-there's-anything-I-don't-like-then-I-can-return-it" policy.

I asked them if it covers any screen problems such as backlight bleeding and their answer was yes.

Yes this is true. ANY screen defect is covered with this insurance. :)
