I just received a 2 month old Sager NP8662 in great condition. No cosmetic flaws, good temperatures, and everything functioning so far. Is there anything else I need to check?

    Main specs are:

    Intel P8600
    Ram: 4gigz
    GTX 260M

I only hit 9700 on 3dmark06 scores. I know that my core is older then the stock 8700 now, but does that make a difference of 1000 points? I see most Sager NP8662 getting 10500. I'm fairly certain all my drivers are up to date, are there any important ones that would impact this?

And aside from HDD temp, what else should I watch out for in a used SAGER?

*lastnote, wheres the damn button to lock the mousepad? lol.

fn + f1 locks the mousepad. Your computer can be bogged down with cpu clogging malware. You can try a reformat, or just try the test again. Test scores will fluctuate.

9700 is normal enough...most 10k scores are obtained from overclocking or they are not using stock CPUs(which is p8700) or in your case...P8600

these scores mainly come from CPU , i upgraded from p8700 to q9000 and my scores increased around 1k....now you know why

and last...dont rely too much on synthetic benchmarks...its just benchmark...nothing else....if you enjoy your game , thats the most important thing...

we all buy these machines not for benchmarking

    9700 score is about average

i wouldnt complain about that if i were u, esp as you have a low end cpu

I heard the performance of the 8600 and 8700 are barely any different, and I've seen screenshots of "stock: NP 8662 from xotic hitting over 10000. I just wanted to ask to make sure, because it is a used laptop after all..

And thanks for the scroll lock hotkey! Been looking for it.

9700 is pretty good and about what that CPU gets.
On a side note just finished putting my barebones unit togther and this is what I got in 3DMARK06 :D

yeah but you have a quad extreme and everyone knows that 06 is very cpu dependant so that is what is making the difference with your 2 scores

Yeah 9700 is pretty average. I got 10k with my rig no overclocking. 9700 is still amazing for a 15inch notebook.

Gonna.. hijack this thread... just so that I dont have to spam things up with creating another very similar one.

I just ran 3D Mark myself on my 8662.
    P9700
    4GB RAM
    GTX 260M

I got a score of 10388.. now, this seems good.. buttt. I'm not sure if I used it right.. I just basically installed 3DMark and hit "Run", I didn't change any of the settings, just ran it at 1280x1024 resolution.. AA off, default settings.
Is that what one is supposed to do??.. or should I change the settings in some way??

Also.. during the "CPU" tests. I got about 0-1 FPS.. is that normal???
Also x2.. when I checked my results online..my GPU came up as a Geforce 170M... whuttup with that?

    ^Everything you posted are normal.

The 170M name, I`m guessing is because of your driver.

Acutually i have found for myself using the latest drivers 186.03 i went from 10524 down to 10153 but in game performance i have noticed much better and more stable FPS, so i really dont care to much about what i scored in 3dmark06 in game performance is what matters to me.
