    Hey Justin,
If I'm planning on sending my 5792 in for the 8800m and the motherboard rework will it be possible to get a CPU upgrade as well? Assuming you have the processors in stock at the time.

How much of a performance difference will there be between the t9300 and the T7700?

He probably hasn't even gotten is hands on the new machines with the Penryn installed, since the processors themselves were released yesterday.

I'd imagine that there wouldn't be MUCH of a difference, but enough to warrant an upgrade if the price is right. :D

well.. for the same price upgrade you get a slightly higher clock speed and a larger cache. sounds like a pretty easy decision to me. ;) :D

I'm more interested in the power consumption and heat production being less on the 45nm chip. I've seen some information on the power gains but not much on the heat yet. Will be interesting to see.

how come the price of the new penryn is the same as the old processor? Aren't new things supposed to be expensive? I want a sager so bad but I dont need a laptop until next fall for school. I'll wait until something better comes out and get a good price. What are the benefits of this new processor? It's only a Santa Rosa refresh right?

auburncoast, This is usually how Intel prices new releases. Here is a good article on Penryn benefits.

thanks for the article. I guess you learn something new everyday. I never new Intel did those kinds of upgrades, but it seems very beneficial to the customer.. that is of course unless you just got your computer with the older processor and then saw these come out. I guess you win some and lose some.
