    Hello!

Thanks to the fantastic advice of this forum, i'm now the proud owner of a Sager 5760 - just arrived yesterday.

This is my first notebook system ever, and I have a 15-day money-back guarantee, so i'd like to give the notebook a full-fledged "shake down cruise" in an effort to identify any shortcomings or faulty issues early on.

What advice would you folks have?

So far all i've come up with is the following to try:

    1. System powers up on both only AC and only battery power. [check]
    2. Hardware/software installed is what I ordered. [check]
    3. Scan for dead pixels.
    4. Run fans at maximum (Fn-F2?), listen for problems.
    5. Install system-hog software (oblivion?) and play for a few hours, watch/listen for problems.
    6. Test CDplayback/DVDplayback/burning capability of optical drive.
    7. [your suggestions here]

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions on quality-checking this notebook!

    go and download prime95

its a burn in program that stresses your computer out

leave it running for as long as possible to stress your components. if they don't give out, then you know that they won't give out for a long time

also download memtest86 to test if you got good ram

Prime95 only test your CPU under load (and even then, it is possible for the CPU to fail under other tasks).
Same goes for Memtest (only more so). It only tests the RAM, and it's *very* possible that errors are not detected by the program.

That doesn't mean they're not worth running. Just that even if they pass the test, it doesn't guarantee that the hardware works.

Anyway, I'd add a 3d benchmark (3dmark, probably) to your test suite, since the two others won't really put the GPU under load.

    - Test Wifi connetion
    - Test Bluetooth connection (with phone, if available)
    - Test webcam with BisonCam
    - Test Audio DJ
    - Test TV tuner, if ordere in the package.
    - Check the SD card reader.
    - Check Pcixpress slot, if accessories are available.

If you ran oblivion for sometimes and all went good, there is no need for Prime or a mem bench. Power hungry games like this one, if they don't crash, will give a clear indication that all is working well.

You might also wanna test the various output ports, like the DVI output. I know there is a lot of things and I probably didn't even do it all ;).

jj808 made a good suggestion there, be sure to install your games and run them (good excuse to play games ;)).

3DMark06 is extremely stressful on both the GPU and CPU.

Another thing to test is the battery - run it on battery once or twice and see how it goes.
