Hello all. First time posting, but I've browsed this forum for 3 years now. I would like start by thanking you, the community, who have provided an excellent source of information for guys like me who are not up to date on all the latest and greatest developments. Also, I would like to thank Xotic PC for suppling a fine product and the quick customer service I received.
Quick specs: T9300, 88M, 200GB HDD, 4 GB RAM, on XP Pro.
I was shocked when I ran 3DMARK06(free version) with the shipped drivers, scoring 9413! This was after updating windows, disabling drivers I don't use (BT, Webcam, fax modem), and defrag.
    I then installed Bitdefender '08. Using gaming mode I re-ran 3D and scored 9390.
This is the first Sager laptop I've owned and I'm quite impressed with it's performance and overall quality. Well, that's it for now. Cheers!

whats the battery life on the np5790 because it seems to be a pretty big machine for 2.5 hours of change. On max battery life just typing notes what do u think would get?

I reckon 2.5 hours is acheivable not really tested it myself as I spend most of my time on this thing playing games and dont want to drop the framerate :)

I have used it for 2 hours on battery at a friends house sorting a router and it was still going strong,

personally I dont expect exceptional battery life from this thing, as its a desktop replacement for me

Gaming will get you a max 1.5 h
I was able to get about 3 hours just listening to winamp on a picnic, and the lid was closed, power saver and powermizer.

Yes, the battery life is not a on-the-go laptop worthy, but again, who in their right mind, would think that a 17" beast like this, would hold up against the 12" "pocket pc's"? :p Nothing is wrong with the "cute" little machines tho and tbh I would really like a 12" pc to put in my bagpocket for school ;)

Personally im pretty happy if I would get 1½ hour of gaming on battery with the performance it has :) 3 hours of battery life playing music, I would say is quite nice for such a beast :) IMO when buying a DTR-lappy, one really should bare in mind, that it is a machine thats made for performance NOT battery life ;)

If one needs/wants battery life, one should atleast not go get a 8800M GPU and a 17" screen :p

1.5 hours while gaming, on "High performance" or "power saver" power setting for the battery ?

...interruption-[Thanks for the greetings. Now I need to read up on what works with the 88M to tweak it. There is a lot of information scattered through different threads with varied results, such as unexplained down clocking.]-please continue...

And how do balanced and high performance power plans compare for gaming / battery life ?

All nvidia cards downclock when running 2d mode, but go back to stock speeds when doing 3d apps (like games), so thats probably the downclocking you experienced ;). Otherwise, it might just be your power settings in windows :p

I`d have to say Balanced feeds you enough power when you need it ,or else it will stay on low power.
Somewhere in the middle , between power saver and high performance.

if I was wealthy I would add a Toshiba R500 to my arsenal for when I go on trips, unless gaming is needed, i.e. lan parties in foreign climes.

the 17" is still portable enough for nipping round a pals house for a spot of lan/onbline blasting :)

Yes, the 5793 is awesome lowprofile, I just got mine last Friday, <3 it; though Vista is an awkward change from XP Pro I know I'll get used to it and hopefully in time will be as stable as XP. I got the same setup as you! (minus Vista), plus I got the TV card, which works great, along with both the remotes which also work great, although I gotta figure out how to set them up to control Winamp, if at all possible (new thread? maybe)

P.S. I just love to hit Fn+1 and listen to my baby hummmmmm.
