I knew I should have paid the extra for the pixel insurance but I didn't. The dead pixel is not fixable from what I've read but I'm hoping the hot pixel is. I'll try a couple fixes I found today while search from work during lunch. I sure hope one of the fixes work. Has anyone else gotten a new notebook and found they had pixel problems lately? And if you have if they were just stuck or hot were you able to fix them?
Thanks.
PS: other then the pixel issues this is the sweetest notebook I've had to pleasure of owning. I only wish I could have gotten it with SLI but I couldn't wait until the end of the month. Do you think they will let us buy and install a second GPU anytime soon?![]()

I don't understand why people check for dead pixels, if you don't notice any from normal use, why bother. 1 or 2 dead pixels makes no diff for the display but if I know I have 1 or 2 dead pixels it bothers me alot.
-
from the horses mouth, the problem is not the availability of the 8800mGTX, it's that nvidia doesn't have sli working in the driver, as of yet. scheduled release is in the next 4 week timeframe, according to Sager tech support, this morning.

Sorry to hear about your pixel.
Trust me though, you aren't missing a thing without SLI. Given all the issues they are having (and they have got to be pretty major to delay this long), I seriously doubt they are going to have mature, stable, performing drivers anytime soon. Meanwhile, those of us who made the smart choice and picked up a 5792 are in our second month of fun. -

Well then, I'm glad I didn't wait for SLI. And in the future if they get things worked out and running smooth I can always add it then. -
You can exchange your system or screen if you are not "fully satisfied"... Sager's 30-day guarantee.
So contact them and say you want to return or exchange it since you are not satisfied with the dead pixel. -
I can't believe they missed this when putting the system together and testing it to make sure it powered up, it's the first thing you see when the screen comes on, it's that bright! Unless of course it happened while being shipped some how. Oh well, it's just disapointing when you spend a bunch on a new notebook and have this happen. -
its not their fault.
It has happened (in my experience) during transit.
You can only do so much when testing it before it gets shipped to the customer. -
-
It more so happens during manufacturing.
-
during tests and install of parts, dead pixels would usually get flagged, but on rare occasions during transit, LCDs have gotten dead pixels.
usually from the normal handling of packages... and the amount of shaking/bouncing/etc.. that it takes.
But this is uncommon for the most part if you are getting the notebook through a vendor that gives it the once over before shipping it out. -
"Hello Greg,
I can certainly understand your frustration.
To answer your question about the screens being checked, Sager's policy (which is actually one of the best, if not the very best in the industry) is that they will not ship any LCD with 3 or more dead pixels (or a single pixel in the center of the screen). Unfortunately, this does mean that units with dead pixels WILL ship."
So they do check but if there are less then 3 they will still ship that unit to the customer. -
that may be the policy, but recently, most of the vendors that I have talked to know to NOT ship a unit with any dead pixels... because it would usually result with an unsatisfied customer that will probable complain or just return the unit.
Its just good business of certain policies now to retain a good customer base.
