Hello everyone and thank you to anyone who will answer to my question. I own a P170SM with an Intel 4700MQ and AMD 8970M dgpu. Any driver after 16.7.2 will keep my dedicated gpu always active, with fan costantly on and dgpu light on. I need the latest driver to be able to play some of the latest games but i would like to have correct gpu switching where the 8970m used to be disabled when was not necessary. Is amd enduro broken with latest driver or what.....AMD support told me to ask my manufacturer but they have only old and obsolete drivers. I installed the drivers correctly using amd uninstaller, tried with ddu, safe mode, nothing worked and dgpu seems to stay always on.
    Thank you very much

    Hi @Raven7Z

I don't know if firmware is the underlying issue here, but if you could tell us your BIOS & EC firmware version, and what version of Windows you're running, that might help with troubleshooting.

Hmm... I doubt it's a BIOS issue, but you could try updating it. There is a 1.05.01 BIOS & EC release for your model (you'd have to contact your reseller for it). Alternatively, you can try running Windows 7 or 10 and see if Enduro still has an issue on either of those platforms.

Try to disable ULPS (Ultra Low Power States - you could also try enabling them if they are already disabled). AMD Drivers 16.7.3 and later have massive problems regarding ULPS with GCN 1.0 cards, especially mobile ones and cards in various multi GPU configurations.

I'm not sure if it will help in your case, but it's definitely worth a try.

If he disable ULPS then dGPU will be active all of the time, and from what I understand he does't want it. Is not that so from win8(and above) the system all the time keeps up the dgpu active(low state 300/150 but active)?
In P170EM with 8970m new driver from amd(17.6.1) works fine and dgpu goes into a "sleep" state, but it is with win7 x64.
You may try to install the system again, without unnecessary software.
