Just emailed Eurocom, apparently the new SLI lineup is coming out in late November. Here is their response:

We will be releasing Skylake-S based EUROCOM X9 Extreme Edition model with SLI support in late November. This will be socket LGA1151 based system, DDR4, Thunderbolt 3 and Killer E2400 1Gb LAN ports.

    You're welcome, guys. ;)

I highly doubt that 990m sli will be a thing, mostly because of power and cooling limitations. Hell, ASUS put a liquid cooler on their just to cool one 990m. Imagine two! That machine would be as powerful as a desktop with 3x980m SLI, which would not only be ridiculously OP but also ridiculously expensive, like, expensive enough to make a GT80 look cheap. But...I'll shoot them another PM, just to make sure... ;)

Clevo does always have the option of supply a system with up to 660W of power of course.

But then there's the issue of cooling, and space. I have heard some people saying the 990m is not an MXM card, in which case SLI won't work. Even if it is, Clevo is going to need one hell of a cooling system to make it work. I have the Sager NP9773 and it gets up to 85 C on full load, which isn't very good cooling. MSI's GT80 keeps its 980m SLI at 67 C even on full load, I can only imagine the amount of airflow necessary to cool a couple of 990m's. And then there is overclocking...which ASUS seems to only think possible if you are using a liquid cooler, so they must run pretty hot.

990M is MXM. It's been said many times.

85C is not normal for 980M, check your heatsink mounting and replace the thermal paste.

ASUS made the choice to install liquid cooling to be able to push clocks past desktop speeds. In doing so, they likely had to compromise on the cooling when not docked which drives up temperature and meant they had to cut the core speed back to be around a 980M. Think about it... If you have liquid blocks without an active pump running, the heat goes into the liquid in the block and acts like an insulator. Had they gone with a more traditional heatsink design, they wouldn't be able to claim desktop performance but they could have the clocks higher than 980M performance.

Regardless of if a 990m will go in there or not, I'm just glad to see there is a new SLI model coming out, though I was hoping it might have been sooner than late November.

That Asus GX700 is an intriguing model. Can't wait to see more on that, but that really is probably for another thread. :)

Yeah it is definitely nice to see an SLI refresh even if the modern game engines are moving away from SLI.

The ASUS is a gimmick if you ask me. That thing is ridiculously huge. Might as well build a desktop. Plus it's kind of a joke with a soldered CPU on air in that thin chassis. I watched a video The Verge made about it... It looks quite thin. It's definitely much thinner than my 9377! The last 10 or so pages of the nVidia speculation thread in the gaming section have been taken over by talk about the GX700.

A lot of big titles do use SLI well and you do get a massive boost in those, especially with higher resolution displays.

Its a big blow to SLI with UE4 not supporting it though.

So Eurocom just emailed me back about whether the laptop has SLI 990m or not...ready for the answer?

We will support 2 of them

    Eurocom

I just got goosebumps..... :DIf this is true, this laptop will be the first on which you can actually game on a 4k screen and hold 60 fps.

Eh... I'll believe it when I see it. Full-tilt 980 SLI still has issues with 4K @ 60. These cards utilize 2GHz slower RAM which is going to have a big impact in 4K scenarios, even if they clock the core to stock 980 speeds.

If you drop to 2k, 60 is easy.

Yeah, I'm skeptical about 2x 990m as well. I'm just imagining the size of the power brick on that...

But still hopeful. Just have to continue to play the waiting game.

It will be 2x330W no doubt just like the 9570 needed.

Let's wait and see... I'm kind off excited for the 990M... I don't need SLI and my 4790K is enough... If the Batman can indeed cool it like Prema says, which I believe 99.9%, my own Christmas present will be sorted! Just would need a new GSync Monitor + external keyboard!

The P570WM had different power options depending on the configuration, if it needs that then they can do it again.

    Nate8080, that's funny, I thought my GT80 SLI-263 was a bargain at $3699, compared to an Alienware 18 at $5000 (2 year service).

Besides the water-cooling is to allow Asus to push the 990m OC + Overvolt and CPU OC, which is awesome, but an air-cooled single/sli 990m is certainly within the realm of possibility. :)

Just don't expect them to be the most portable systems in the world :D
