Does anyone know when will any CLEVO reseller offer new Intel processors?

    Models:
    P8700 2.53 GHz 241 USD 3MB cache 25W
    T9550 2.66 GHz 316USD 6MB cache 35W
    P9600 2.66 GHz 348USD 6MB cache 25W
    T9800 2.93 GHz 530USD 6MB cache 35W
    Q9000 2.0 GHz 348USD 6MB cahce 45W

I think these CPUs are excelent.
Expecially Q9000, which is according to CLEVO supprted in M860TU. It is Quad core ''Bang for Buck'' compared to nasty overprices Q9300 <1000USD

Good deal seems to me also P9600.

I was wondering when will Sager, XoticPC, Eurocom and other companies replace old ''trash'' by these CPUs with better price/performance ratio.

Any word? Thank you for answers.

Nobody knows when any of the Clevo resellers will offer the newly released processors in the current laptop models. You might want to give the Sager or Eurocom a call to get the latest update on that. My best guess would be in about two or three weeks when the resellers may lower the prices for the laptops.

The new dual cores are quite a steal for their money. I myself wouldn't mind having a P9600 or a T9800 in a Clevo. Warehouses in California have a stock of OEM Q9000's ready to ship out now and the P and T series CPU's will be in stock soon.

The M860TU supporting the Q9000 is conditional. According to Clevo's latest update on their webpage, the M860TU will not support the Q9000, or any other Q series, if the laptop also contains a 9800M card. My suspicion is because of the increased power draw.

However, that is according to Clevo. From my deduction, the entire Q series CPU's surprisingly consume less power than a X9100. Notebookcheck has shown this in their review comparing the QX9300, Q9100, and the X9100 in a M570TU. This eliminates the power draw issue in the M860TU because they have shown that the X9100 consumes the most power. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Comparative-Review-of-the-Intel-Core-2-Quad-Notebook-CPUs.13426.0.html

As for the thermal output of the Q series in a M860TU, I really don't know how it will fare out. Users that dumped X9100's into their laptops are happy with the results, so I am assuming that the M860TU's heatsink can keep up with the heat. On paper this may be true as the TDP of the quad cores are only one tick higher at 45W. But the geometry of the CPU is different as the X9100 has one small rectangular die as opposed to the two massive dies on the Q series, which will change how the heat is dispersed. As a side note, the Q9000 has slightly smaller dies compared to the Q9100 and QX9300.

Yes, I agree that the Q9000 is the best bang for the buck if you wish to have an affordable quad core system. But as of now, quad cores in the M860TU are still officially unsupported by Clevo, Sager, and Eurocom due to the "thermal budget", which in my opinion is a load of poopoo since day one. I will let you know if the Q9000 will function in the M860TU once I receive the laptop.

the t9800 is a awesome cpu if you cant overclock. imo basically just as fast as the x9100, but if you oc it then go for the x9100. depends on the notebook.

    the quads were tested here:
    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Comparative-Review-of-the-Intel-Core-2-Quad-Notebook-CPUs.13426.0.html

as mentioned above and it shows the x9100 faster at some things and the quad faster at others. depends what you need it for. but they showed for gaming either one pretty much makes little to no difference.. maybe just a couple fps

Those prices you have listed there are the wholesale prices, not retail. They will be more expensive than that after the mark-ups. The T9600 is $569.99 right now, and Intel's only announced a wholesale price drop on the P8600.

KillerNotebooks have been offering a T9800 as standard CPU in most of their notebooks for some time now. I'm sure Mark can get his hands on a P9600 or a Q9000 as well. I remember him stocking Q9100s before.

Q9000 would be ok for GTA4...

any news on overclocking the quad..

would rather a quad at the 2.5-3.0 mark... at a decent price.

Some time now? Then is he telling people the chips are (edit: possibly?) Engineering Samples?

All companies that have an account with ASI Distribution should be able to get at least the Q9000, they have them in stock. The other ones are currently out of stock, but it's possible that Mark got an early shipment of T9800s.

However, while they are available to be put in Clevos by other system builders, I don't have a time frame for when Sager will introduce them.
