New drivers were released on Intel's site on 3/13/09 and I grabbed them, as I had pretty major issues with an external eSATA drive (lagging my entire system, pausing it five seconds upon connection, disconnecting improperly). All my eSATA problems were solved with the new drivers, which made me wonder if the drivers affected other things - such as hard drive temps in this notebook.
I recommend grabbing them and upgrading your drivers - and let me/us know if your hard drive temperatures are lower than previously (as I'm running a bit lower, but I haven't monitored it closely for a while).

Thanks for the heads up

I've noticed lower temps with these drivers for sure:
I ran my notebook today, late afternoon, about 78F ambient temp (fairly warm) for three hours playing GTA4 (fairly taxing, medium/high), zalman cooler on low and the hard drive was steady at 49C during. This is down from 52C in earlier sessions on slightly cooler days/nights (72Fish, a couple of weeks ago), which is pretty significant, imo.
So yeah, update! -
+1 , I've been doing hard-drive intensive task for 72 hours in a row and my max temp has been 54C (it used to be my idle temp), I still have to try with GTA 4
