I've obtained the new .09 BIOS from Sager.

    Included in this release are:

    1. BIOS 1.00.09, EC 1.00.08.
2.Support new M/B for Quad core processor.
    3. Solve “system can’t identify BT device correctly when the BT cable exists” issue.
    4. Solve “sometimes system pauses at POST screen, and need to press any key to continue” issue.
    5. When system working temperature reaches fan on point but the system can’t receive normal fan speed information, it will alarm for one minute then shut down.
    6. Run step1.bat and step2.bat to update.

    It can be downloaded at:

    http://www.mojaveunderground.com/M570TU09.zip

Running well so far. Resolved some stuttering problems with the CPU.

    hi... (sorry my english)

I just update the bios 1.00.09 and now my m570tu does not work. :(

my original bios was 1.00.05 and ec 1.00.03

how I can get my old bios?

    please help!

    EDITED:

I think that the problem was that the options BIOS have the Robson enable, (and also AHCI on). I only turn off the Robson.
but i just install he OS Vista again and i think that all goes well.
    I have a mess...

I did restart, but i didn't update from within windows (bootable USB drive). Don't know if you HAVE to reboot!

Update was succesful, but func+3 does still not work, everything else does (func+1 full blast/auto func+2 SRS switch)

You can only run the updates from dos (ie from a bootable usb stick) and yes, you have to restart between the 2 steps

I downloaded the BIOS and it is a .ISO file. If I open it in a CD-Writer software and write it on a blank CD, will it contain the 2 files and will it be able to boot up from it?

Yes, they have changed the setup procedure: it's simpler now, all you need to do is to burn .ISO on a cd and boot from that CD. It's normal that cd is showing "empty", everything is in the boot sector. It will take a few minutes and you will likely hear lots (I mean LOTS!) of beeps. That's ok too.

As a side note: I wish Sager were more responsive and would update their web-site RIGHT AWAY when an important update like that is coming out.

Regarding WEI: mine improved from 5.1 (memory) to 5.9 (memory) only after updating the chipset drivers. I checked WEI after updating BIOS and (fortunately) it didn't change :)

Qustion to emike09 - we have almost identical configurations, but I have experienced some wierdest intermittent problems with mine. Sometimes the sound would get choppy and stuttering and the mouse would be not very responsive, in addition the internal clock would start "loosing time" (sometimes a few minutes within an hour). Even worse, this would happen rather unpredictably, so when I sent mine to Sager, they checked it for several days and didn't find anything wrong with it. Did you experience anything similar with your laptop?
The reason I'm asking is that I recieved the bios update from Sager as supposed 'cure' for these problems. I wonder if it really helps...

I will update my BIOS as soon as I got back, but now I have to go to the Tesco, because Dead Space is only $14.90 in every Tesco in the country (instead of $49.90) :D

If you get sent the bios from sager/a reseller, it will often be in .iso format for ease of use. If you download it from the clevo site (my links) it's individual files so you can put them on a bootable stick and save yourself a cd (not that they cost anything nowadays anyway)

I uploaded the .ISO version of BIOS on rapidshare:

    http://rapidshare.com/files/161041093/5796bv09s.zip

    INSTRUCTIONS:
    1. Burn .iso to a CD.
    2. Boot the laptop with this CD, read text, press any key.
    3. You'll hear a lot of beeps, that's normal :)
    4. After the update press F2 and load the default settings (important!)
    5. You can boot your OS now

Yes, I have the same EXACT issues. Stuttering audio and video, the the clock delaying. Right now, mine is a good 42 minutes behind. And it gets worse all the time. I will have to check and see if its still doing that.

Mine improved from 5.1 to 5.8 on the memory, making the HD the lowest now (5.7)

I had that when I recieved mine the first time. I tried everything, drivers, new OS, new BIOS etc, didn't work. I recieved a whole new laptop, same specs no stuttering.

I have problems with sound crackling and popping, and graphics-lags.

I am going to try another clean vista install with newest chipsetdrivers, 179.13 gpu driver, wlan and everything, and the new bios.

    WHY????

I've done many complete reinstalls of Vista and it does not fix anything. I've used from 176.09 to 180.43 drivers and that fixes nothing. Chipset drivers are the latest, along with sound, wifi, lan, etc. I thought maybe it was my processor, but the upgrade to the X9100 did not fix anything. Overclocking the CPU / GPU also does not fix anything.

Mine does not improve either. Our memory should be equivalent to PC2-8500 which on my desktop got a score of 5.9. Games also have not improved, but I would not expect an improvement in performance from a BIOS. Something I would like is manual fan speeds from the Fn+3, just like the M570RU.

    Did you try this? forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=306663
First it didn't work, but after the BIOS update it did, don't know what the cause of it is though.
Sorry for the no-link thing, don't have 15 posts yet.

With the new BIOS, should Func+3 work for medium speed fans? I can't say I hear any difference between Auto and Medium. Pressing Func+3 while in full blast doesn't do a thing, just stays in full blast.
Pressing Func+3 from the half clocked button (silent mode??) left next to the power button doesn't do anything too. It just stays on the mode it's on, not going into medium or anything.

    Link works for me.

Are you sure you have FTP port#21 access from the PC you are trying it from ? Many business block that address.

    Should work from home though.

I just clicked the link and was able to download from the clevo ftp site.

Mike, did sound stuttering and clock lagging go away after the BIOS update? It's the third day since I updated it and so far... I didn't see any problems. Now, that doesn't mean anything yet, but one can hope :)

Frankly, I'm a bit pissed about the entire lagging/stuttering issue. I'm reading this forum for quite a while now, and as many newcomers here I bought my Sager 5796 based on many positive reviews. Now it turns out that a number of people with Sager 5796 have (or had, hopefully) this crazy problem with clock/sound. However, when I called XoticPC (who transfered me to Sager of course) I was told "Oh, really? You clock is lagging?? It must be CMOS battery". What's up with that? I wasted my time shipping it to Sager just to hear that "nothing is wrong" with the computer. Two days later I got the same issue. I really hope the issues are resolved now, or I will get mad, and that's ugly :)

Yup EVERYTHING is fixed that you mention. The lagging clock, the audio stutters, the video slowdown, all seems good. Only thing is the multipliers sometimes stay at 11.5 instead of 13, and I can't get them up without rebooting.

I have flashed my m570tu with the newest bios too. Gonna try it when I get home from school...

So all sound-crackling and popping + all graphics-lags just stoped after bios update? Thought that it was the bad realtek card or something.

The crackling-sound stops when i turn of the wlan, but graphics-lags never stops.

Another day has passed - no sound/clock problem... Maybe they really fixed it? :)

BTW, did anybody check the esata problem (with external hard disks) - did it go away after the update? I tried several different brands and would get strange problems with every eSATA HD. First, the comp freezes for 10-20 sec, when you turn the HD on (should NOT be happening), then the performance used to be exactly the same as via USB port. Plus, Vista booting/rebooting problems if eSATA HD stay connected. I wonder if this was fixed.

Hi Guy, i have the Same problem with the Sound. the Bios update did'nt helped so far, maybe i had to try a fresh installation ?

Strange thing, under xp pro x86 no problems ! under vista, does'nt matter if it's x86 or x64, there are the known probs, this is soo frustrating.

the interresting thing, if you don't install the wlan card, there are no graphic slow down. Otherwise if there is no forceware driver the sound bugs are gone :D

I have never had any stuttering problems/sound problems with my 5796, which is why i am not sure about updating the bios since it is running well..

    I have T9500, 4gigs, no turbo memory and 9800gtx..

I didn't have any problems with wlan card. But if you are going to try a fresh Vista 64bit install, I recommend to download the newest Intel chipset drivers first (Intel web site). The ones from Sager are outdated. Plus, of course, download the newest wlan driver (also outdated). Do a fresh install (preferably with SP1 right away), then install all chipset drivers, then start installing all the device drivers, including wlan, etc.

BTW, did you do BIOS update using the two .bat files or using .iso file? I tried .iso file (it's easier).

Well come to think of it, I did install the new WLAN drivers before I did the BIOS update. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

I suspect it (= the absence of problems) has something to do with your CPU. It looks like both x9100 and T9600 had problems with sound/clock for sure.

I would like to get the x9100 at some point, as I see both my cores stressed often, but i will wait till that chip is more mainline and you guys have figured out all the problems :)

Well, be prepared for a rather significant drop in battery run-time if you do. Having x9100 is a nice thing, it is by far the fastest mobile CPU for 90% of applications (which of course aren't parallel), but it comes with a price: your M570TU will be pretty much useless without a power socket (I think it's about 1 hour up time only). Still, I'm happy with mine, I didn't buy it for portability :)

I get maybe an hour and 15minutes now, so that doesn't bother me and I am normally plugged in, even though I use the laptop in 3-4 locations pretty often, buying an extra ac adaptor when I bought the laptop was a wonderful idea :)

I get about 1 1/2 hours on mine, and about 2 hours with the gpu and cpu volted down.
