i just got my laptop up and running yesterday, installed vista and all. It was working perfectly fine then, but when I tried to turn it on this morning nothing. The screen doesn't light up, and it doesn't seem that the bios or anything is loading at all. doea anyone know what the issue might be? Hoping it might be a quick fix and I don't have to wait until mon or tuesday to call in and find out

Unplug your laptop and remove the battery for a few minutes, then try again.

Uh.. is it plugged in or charged...?

EDIT - You have to hold the power button down for a second or two, you can't just click it.

Both, it doesn't matter whether I unplug it or whether I do. I tried Soviet's suggestion but it didn't do anything.

are there any lights at all coming on or can you hear the fan kick in or is it total silent with no lights.
also last night did you put it to sleep or use hibernation at all.

Yeah, the HD light comes on for a few second when it first boots, but then dies. The bluetooth and on lights come on too. Sounds like there's some noises coming from the hard drive too. The night before it broke it hibernated automatically, prob because it was overheating. So I left it to cool for a while before I picked it up again.

It's probably a dud. Send it back and get a new one.

i know alienware m15x had major problems after you put it into hibernation but didnt think it affected clevos. hibernation somehow fried my motherboard.
the first thing i done with my m860tu was deleted the 2.1gb file in disc cleanup to get rid of the hibernation file just in case.
sorry i cant help anymore. best thing is to contact your supplier.

in regards to that, I suppose it's too late now, but you can run "powercfg -a" to tell you which suspend states are supported by the mobo (m860tu's are S1 and S3, even though Windows only reports S3).

To disable hibernation: "powercfg -h", but I've no problems with it as of yet, and my lid action is set to hibernate.

Had the same issue as you, but then again I built it myself.
What I did, was to take every component out and put it back and then it worked like a charm.

See that you don't have a broken/bad installed ram module, I noticed it acts that way in those cases.

If the LED lights come on for a few seconds before turning off, the CPU isn't completely locked in place.
