I just got and unboxed my new P151 due to finding these forums which I thank everyone here for. I have been trying to search exactly what a dead pixel looks like, however none of them actually max what I have. I already have a stuck pixel in bright green at the upper left of the screen, but there is what appears to be a dead pixel near the mid bottom. The problem is that it is not uniform in direction or shape. I almost looks like a titled crumb stuck between the matte surface and the screen itself. It is also brown in color and you can almost see through the mouse pointer when traveling through the area. I bought the P151 less than 2 weeks ago. What should my course of action be?

Try and fix it using some dead pixel software. Unless you got the dead pixel guarantee, you can't request a new screen unless you have something like 6 or more dead pixels.

Unfortunately, that doesn't fall under the standard dead pixel policy from Sager (unless you bought the no dead pixel policy - you can review a quick rundown of the policies from the manufacturers here).

There are several sites we reference when this issue comes up so you might want to take a look at a couple of the different solutions (the first link has several suggestions that are non-software related).

Don't forget you have 30 days to return the laptop for a full refund (minus shipping).

Thanks for all of the replies. One off topic question too. Does Malibal still put there names on the back of the lcd panel?

I think I know what you're talking about if it is a group of pixels. I had this appear when I got off a flight once. They put so much pressure on the back of the screen a chunk of pixels were covered with a grayish mark.

You can request that they not place it, as I have. Before, you needed to include it in a comment box during checkout, but now, it is a simple option on the configuration page.

Yep, it's now an option on our configuration page to get the lid plain as c0nfucius said.

As for the pixels - if they're black it means they're probably totally dead, but it sounds like none of yours are. You can try the software others have listed to see if that un-sticks them before getting too worried about it.

It looks much more gray than black. And it is not uniform in shape, nor is it level with the screen, when i place the cursor over it it almost looks 3d. That software mentioned got rid of the green stuck pixel. I am starting to guess it is what was mentioned above about too much pressure or dirt. Is there a solution for the pressure problem?

You could try taking it apart, but I would not really suggest that as it is likely dust would get in and make it worse. If its really bugging you I would just return it and get another one. IMO a single dead pixel should be enough to get a replacement as it is a defect. Unfortunately most manufactures/resellers require 5 or more dead pixels before its considered a defect. I like my screens to be 100% perfect and its absolutely ridiculous that I would have to pay an extra 50-100 dollars to get the guarantee that my NEW screen is 100% working. Just my 2 cents.

Well, Origin PC doesn't post here (not sure why), but they are the only ones who offer free zero dead pixel guarantee. They offer the P150HM as the Eon-15S, which is similar to the P151HM. Problem is, they're usually a bit pricier than resellers that frequent these forums.

But they only offer the glossy screen and I HATE those!

They have some sort of "custom configuration guarantee"; I cannot recall the exact phrase they use. Did you ever inquire whether they could install a matte screen for you instead?

Nope but they are too expensive. Malibal seems to have the best deals and seem to have a pretty good rep here.
