Remember to take care of that notebook.

I can guarantee that it will last for at least 3 years (up to 3 more), if you take care of it.

I'll do my best to take care of it. It is my first laptop so I'll have to learn a few things about keeping it clean and functional. I'm also deploying to the desert which I can only imagine will make it a bit harder to keep clean. Any tips?

    a lot of compress air.

    Read here for detailed instructions:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=223816

    Remember to:
    - use the notebook on a clean, flat, hard surface (preferably a good notebook cooler, like Zalman ZM-NC1000 or NC2000)
    - use your Fan Toggle (Fn+1) to switch all fans to max speed during gaming to prevent overheating
    - and always monitor the temps

compressed air is extremely good advice, although be aware that they are aerosols, so make sure you check before flying.

keep it in its laptop bag.
get some nice velvety cloth to brush it off with (or even a soft brush)

get it insured too if you can

Wow, I ordered nearly the EXACT same thing, except with silver trimming, back on the 13th, mines still in phase2, apparently orange would have been a far better choice!

    HA! Showed me.

yeah i'm pretty happy with the orange trim to be honest. i really prefer the black over the silver, but that's just me. also, i chose the lower resolution on purpose because most LCD's tend to look best at their native resolution. I'd like to continue gaming at the native resolution with decent settings for at least a year :p

well, i'll be joining the club shortly too. I guess there's a lot of us jumping on the 5793's!

kazakun, I'm choosing the same resolution as well. I would rather run at higher settings at 16x10, since it always looks better in native. Getting the orange trim too, matches my Flyers :p

erm got xp on mine, and its soooo fast I am not worried too much about numbers, especially when it gets a nice well over 9000 (9400 I think) score in 3dmark06

even though the machine can only see 3 gig of the ram, its still good :)
