I took delivery and I have been working with Intel XTU to make a few changes though I have noticed that during benchmarking that i am getting current limit throttling and that happens regardless of being at stock settings, overclocked or even stock and a under volt.

    Current PSU allows 230w

Should i buy a spliter and a secound power brick for added power or should I get a Eurocom 780 power supply?

Are there other solutions I am missing?

That may be a bios thing? The Prema bios could probably fix it.

Though I would not doubt that possibly could fix the issue this is a Sager and bought through another re-seller and thus not supported for this laptop that said I am unsure if the bios is even out yet and even if it were I would not be able to get my hands on it.

So back to my original question, should i buy a spliter and a secound power brick for added power or should I get a Eurocom 780 power supply?

Well no, if it's a bios restriction a bigger PSU won't do anything.

I can see that but aside from the assumption of fact that it is the bios what else could be the issue, do you have the same issue or did prior to having the prema bios? I feel that is a bit to much assumption.

? No I'm fairly positive it's a TDP restriction. Mine has it as well, and the Prema bios should fix it. All gpus tend to come with a stock tdp limit somewhere.

Sounds good thats what I needed to know, that said would it help to underclock the GPU? I am looking for solutions anywhere possible also I have tried to message Prema but i never get a response and I know he will have a bios forth coming but what are the odds he would even help me out should I donate to him and his efforts?

Maybe undervolt. Why would you underclock? That's just crippling performance.

I have done a undervolt with a maximum of -.125 and i still get this issue however why would i under clock the GPU? I want to solve the issue first and see if this would be a possible solution outside of that i am more interested in a successful overclock of the cpu.

Can you show the graphs for both the CPU and GPU using programs like XTU and MSI afterburner of when this happens?

I can but I have not touched afterburner yet as my focus has been on the cpu currently and I am not a extreme gamer and the gaming i tend to do is more turn biased in nature though I do a considerable amount of design work.

I might have been doing something wrong here and im very open to that idea.

I have changed the power settings also in windows from High performance to balanced to see if this would help and it has not and I am still getting this issue.

I am also curious because my re-seller mentioned that it could be possible the system was not meant to be in any other config other than stock and overclocking was not in mind with the current PSU however I am frustrated with the thought of that because there is a 7820HQ and why not just market that then?

What if you change Icc max to 100 amps?

That worked!!! Thanks I am getting awesome results however I am seeing temps go up to 86 C during benchmarking and wanted to know what in your opinion i could lower the amps to without having the former issue...thank you so much

The machine will only draw as much as it needs to run at that speed, it's a maximum speed limit rather than a set speed.
