    Hi everyone,
I just got my new laptop a couple days ago. Today at school, I was using my laptop and then at about 10% battery life, the display went very dull to save battery. Well the laptop battery then ran out not long after, and I just turned it off untill I got home just now and plugged it back in. Well, now even afters its charged, the screen is still very dull and looks like its still in the mode to save battery. I cant find out how to change it back so its nice and bright and normal. I changed the performance thing from battery saving to high performance, and I checked in control panel to try and find out where the option would be to turn it back to normal, but I cant find it.

Some one pleaes help, I cant use my laptop like this and its really annoying! I want my normal bright screen back!

I think its something to do with this stupid vista but I dont know, maybe its a defective laptop?!

There is a function combination that can increase and decrease the brightness of the screen. Try pressing Function+F9 a few times.

I think if it's stuck in the ultra dim 10 percent mode, even that won't work. Hopefully that isn't the case.

Oh thank god....that function f9 think worked.

Am I going to have to do this every time the battery drops to 10%?

Maybe it's a video driver issue? What version are you using?

I believe it's an automatic feature to make your battery last long enough for you to save your progress and turn off the laptop before it shuts itself off and you lose what you were doing. Perhaps if you set the power management to Always On desktop mode it'll change?

The screen dimmer on the 5793 is done through the bios and is not controllable through windows. I think whether it stays dim depends on if you turn it on before or after you plug it in.
