I recently purchased a new Sager 5793 from powernotebooks.com. I found the entire process painless, especially compared to the time I bought a laptop from Alienware. The sales person on the other end of the line, Tim, was courteous and knowledgable. The only glitch came when Sager was out of the 1680x1050 screens (they were backordered) so I got the 1920x1200 screen.

I like to play Oblivion, and up to the point of receiving the Sager I had been playing on a Dell 9200 at the lowest resolution. It was enjoyable, certainly, but I longed to see the game in all of its glory. The Sager 5793 has fulfilled those hopes and then some. I get 50-60fps indoors and 25-40 outdoors. This while playing at 1920x1200 and having MMM and OOO loaded.

I wanted to know the temperatures of the various components, as I know that heat is the enemy of laptops. I installed HWMonitor from CPUID and started watching. Well, the HDD temperature would hang around 55-60C, and that was worrisome to me. I checked various and sundry tech sites and ordered the Zalman 2000 laptop cooler from Newegg. Ah, it cuts the temperatures of the CPU(s), GPU, and HDD down by a good 5C.

Yes, I'm quite pleased with the performance of my new Sager. I'd recommend it and powernotebooks.com to anyone. I'm equally sure that the Sager 5793 will be technically obsolete within weeks, if it isn't already. But I doubt that it will be functionally obsolete to me for quite some time. And that's how it should be.

    Thus concludes my meager report

Oblivion is probably my favorite game ever, glad to see you like it and it plays so well on your new PC.

That's quite a system you're ordering. I'd think you'd be able to play anything you want at full speed and high resolution. Be sure and let us know how it is.

Oh you'll know when I get mine by my endless drooling posts which will smear this section of the website.

When I write up my review of it I will be sure to include tons of benchmarks and in-game stats, including Oblivion. Out of curiosity, what were the temps of your CPU and GPU while in-game?

Let's see, I just played for about an hour. It seems like the two core temps were in the low forties, the GPU around the mid-fifties, and the HDD in the low fifties.

I don't play Oblivion with the sound on.
