Hi there. I got my new Sager just yesterday. The first thing I did was installing C&C Red Alert 3 but it won't start but a message pops up saying Make sure Directx9 or higher is installed and that my system's graphic card meets minimum requirements. I have a Geforce 260M and it should work fine, I guess. :( In addition, Directx should also be installed.

    Consequently, I made a Windows system rating and I got a 1 in graphics. :( :( :(

    What's wrong with it?

    THanks for the advice!!!!

Not yet BUT I tried to install the drivers on the CD that came with the Laptop and it says that it cannot be installed as no Nvidia Chip can be found!!! This is very worrying as it is also not indicated in the device manager!!! It says standard VGA graophic adapter.

Can it be that XoticPC forgot to put in the 260???

lolz windows does not know what the card is because you have to install nvidia drivers. install the graphics from nvidia.com then it should all be fine.

What on earth compelled you to play a game before installing the correct drivers? Thats number 5 on the list of things to do on a new computer.

and no, if there was not gpu in there your screen would show nothing.

Lol, that's interesting, the card is newer than the drivers they ship it with. Obviously Sager/Clevo just wanted to be the first out with these bad boys in a 15 inch and probably thought if anyone were actually buying them, they'd most likely have an internet connection and know what to do anyway.

Okay. I just installed the drivers from the Nvidia website and everything works now. WOW, I was a bit worried.... :p Thanks guys.

EDIT: Although C&C works really well, Windows graphic test indicates only 2.0. I am using Windows 7 RC by the way.

make sure to set your Power Options to max performance.
    - and Nvidia Powermizer to disabled or max performance

and make sure you are not enabling Silent Mode

Okay a new assessment gives me a score of 5.8 for gaming graphics and 5.9 for graphics. Additionally, I tried to set the power settings to high performance but it does automatically changes to Balanced. Where do I change the Nvidia settings you have described?

Thanks a lot for your help.

if you are using Win7, there would be none of those Nvidia settings.

and your system seems fine now.

just do a 3DMark06 and Vantage benchmark to confirm.
