Hello everyone, I've poked around these forums a bit trying to solve this problem on my own but I've had no luck, so I registered and come hoping someone can solve my problem.

Last week, I received a Sager NP9170, running Windows 8 with a 3630QM i7, 16MB of RAM, a Crucial SSD (256GB), and an NVidia GTX 680m; So far I have not been able to get this computer to utilize the card.

I already have turned on performance in the Intel Graphics Options Wizard, I have gone to the NVidia control panel and selected the High Performance Nvidia graphics processor as default, I have even started apps from the context menu choosing to use the Nvidia card. I have benchmarked Arma II, Heaven 3.0 Benchmarking software, and I can't get above 20 FPS, with pretty much any settings. The Heaven 3.0 software says it is using onboard HD 4000. (I think it is 4000.) So does my Windows Experience score.

Also, when I monitor temps, the GTX 680 has gotten up to 70C, but I'm obviously not harnessing it at all to be getting barely 20 FPS in any setting in just about any benchmark or game.

Is this a common problem? Can I fix it? Should I send my notebook back?

    Thanks for your time.

Run an 3dmark11 and let me know what your score is. If your card is getting to 70c then its being utilised. Also download gpu-z and let it run in the backgroumd. It ahould tell ypu gpu utilisation.

I got this error when attempting to run 3DMark11 basic:

The NVidia driver stops responding and recovers It got a little further along this time before crashing. Got this error again trying to run the 3DMark11. This is a completely new Notebook, btw.

    hi
sorry to hear your having problems.
might be worth contacting your supplier support as they should know what that error message is.
in the mean time we will try to advise.

i had similar problems with 11 and vantage. could you download vantage benchmark in my signature below and run that for me. if it stops at crash and burn test then i know what it is.
for some reason futurmark advised me to delete and load an older version of phsx which worked for me so every time i update my drivers i then have to manually delete phsx driver and download again otherwise 3dmark11 and vantage will not run or crash shortly after starting.

plenty of software in sig below which will come in handy to monitor everything.
download nvidia inspector, core temps, msi afterburner and also vantage and even 3dmark11 again just in case it was a corrupt download.

let us know how you get on.

Probably a silly suggestion, but maybe check all your drivers for the 680 at both sager's and nvdias page to see which is the latest one and grab it. I know there are threads on the forum detailing the latest and where to go, so you can use the forum search function (or maybe a less noob member than myself will post it for you)

If that doesn't work, you could always try updating the Intel Drivers (chipset + hd4000)

If you're going to update both drivers, I advise uninstalling both first (as opposed to installing over) and then install the Intel driver before you install the NVidia driver.
