Just wanted to send out a quick THANK YOU to the forum members here. I scoured through many, many threads over the past two months while researching which laptop to buy (actually bought, then cancelled, a Dell m4800 order :).

I ended up purchasing a Sager 9380-S tonight from Xoticpc.com. I do a lot of HD video editing, compositing, and 3D animation professionally, and I kept coming back to this model for the price/performance/features ratio.

Can't wait to put it through the paces:

    Sager 9830-S
    i7-4800MQ
    16GB RAM
    Nvidia 780m
    120hz 3D 19280x1080 display
    240GB primary mSata
    1TB 5400rpm HDD
    6x blu-ray burner
    Intel AC 7260

Same here! Upon searching through many different manufacturers and models, I ended up on P370SM3/NP9380-S. This is my first post to forum too!

It is Thor-branded laptop, don't know the reseller. I bought it from webshop. Price wasn't bad either, 2690€. That's about 3650$.

    My specs are following:

    -i7-4800MQ
    -32GB DDR3
    -780M SLI
    -120Hz Full HD
    -2x 240GB SSD Crucial M500
    -750GB 7200rpm HDD
    -Win 8

Can't wait to get my hands on it. First thing to do is to update Prema's new modded bios and OC vBios to the 780's. I'm also installing Mint 16 Cinnamon to the other M500.

I wouldn't buy more than 16gb of ram, there is nothing that can max that out in today's gaming world.
Unless you plan on running heavy virtual machine stuff, leave it at 16.

With more ram, the CPU will have to work harder (the ram controller is on the CPU itself).
There is no benefit in doing that.

Also, power consumption will be higher. Running on battery, you would have less time than with just 2 sticks.

P.S. I remember the Sandy Bridge (2-nd generation Core i-series) could run 2 sticks of ram at 1600mhz, but with 4 sticks it was downclocked to 1333mhz.
Not sure if the same thing happens with the 4-th gen Haswell CPU's.

I agree with b0b1man that unless you need that much RAM it could do more harm then good. Keep in mind RAM is only used when its needed, you can have 16GB, 32GB, 64GB or more, but if all you're doing only takes 6GB the rest is just sitting there waiting to be used.

But I also know how it is to want to upgrade things just for the sake of doing so :). Either one you linked should be good. I've used Crucial in the past and its been good for me, never have used Mushkin personally.

Thanks for the feedback. I need the RAM. I do heavy HD video editing, compositing, and 3D rendering and these apps eat up as much memory as I can throw at them.

I'll probably end up getting the Crucial - have had good luck with them in the past.

    Thanks guys.

I'm considering to sell those 2x 8GB modules. 16GB is enough for my needs, which consist mostly of gaming, HD video editing and CAD.

How fast memory one can install to the laptop? Does Prema's modded bios allow faster memory?

1866mhz is the fastest you want to bother with, make sure it's 1.35b rated if getting it yourself.

You can try, ram is always about the final tweak since it offers by far the least improvements. 2133MHzcan ccause headaches getting 4 sticks working happily.
