Mavens, I just received this machine and am putting it through its paces. Loving it so far, but I have a few questions for anyone who can help:

    1) What's a good GPU monitor for the 8970m? None of the desktop gadgets that I know seem to work with the 8970, and for some reason GPU-z isn't playing nice, hanging on startup. I'm wondering whether it's the drivers? (See question 2.)

    2) What are the most recent stable drivers for the 8970m (Windows 7x64)? I'm using the drivers that came on the driver disk (bought from Xotic PC), but my 3dMark (2013) numbers are significantly lower than the values listed on notebookcheck.net.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Go to AMD.com for the latest drivers, be sure to pick the mobile ones.

If that does not solve your GPU-Z issues then MSI afterburner should work.

Disable ULPS and all monitoring tools will work with 8970M. At the moment Enduro/ZeroCore technology is kicking in, the card is completely turned off and the display runs on Intel's IGP.
