Lol because i've learned not to play the waiting game. That, and my processor does everything I want it to do.

Advertising is good, but it causes people to second-guess a well-researched decision. I've learned (painfully at times) to be content, and i feel others should too. :)

Plus, how many people actually need (not want) an extra 200mhz? Not me. If it was 500mhz+, for the same price point, then yes, i would be envious.

This entire thread just shows how effective intel's advertising is.

Mr.Mysterious is right, for most people, the upgraded processors aren't needed. However, it is a welcomed upgrade, as even though most games today don't take full advantage of multiple-cores, this will likely change in the future. Furthermore, having that extra 200mhz is bout 5-10% less downtime during processes such as video encoding, and thus, would be very beneficial for them.

Intel is doing what it's supposed to do, improve its technologies. This isn't as much Intel advertising as it is the consumer's strive to get the best they can. :)

I have just phoned mysn: they told me that the new processors will be included in the shop configurator very soon :)

EDIT: DevilTech (another German reseller) already offers Clevos with the new processors: DevilTech - High Performance Systems-_HellMachine #

in the mysn models, too... :)

    That's a very interesting link :)

I just did a comparison between the new i7-2860QM and the 'old' i7-2920XM using the site from your link. The result is this: Compare Intel® Products . Looking at the result of this comparison I don't see a major difference among them: Both have 2.5 GHz and 8MB cache but the price difference is about $500

Its because the 2820 is an unlocked/extreme CPU....

Odd, all those new ones say vPro = No, even though old ones had it.

I think its wrong though because they have AES for example and thats part of vPro I think.

    Thanks for the reply :)

I must admit that I have never heard about vPro before  so I just had a look at wikipedia: Intel vPro - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . After reading that wikipedia page I actually don't see a feature there that would justify the $500 price difference between a VPro=Yes and a Vpro=No model. Or am I missing something here?

Let's rephrase the same questions as follows: If you had the choice between two processors with identical GHz and Cache and one of them with VPro=Yes and the other with Vpro=No but $500 cheaper, which one would you choose?

V-Pro yes / no on a cpu would only make a difference if the system is designed base on the V-Pro spec, and it’s mainly aimed at the corp / IT customers... :)
