    Yes.

What I'm most curious is the new driver for the M570TU. I wonder how 187.62 plays out.

well, considering this is the last generation of gpus 5796/5797s will support (due to mxm2 limitations), it does come as a surprise, and i dont think any of us should be complaining lol

Alright, so there will be no more confusions, the inf file tells us this:

There will be a new GTX 285M which will be provided for all the new laptops:
    D900F, M980 , W870, W860.

The new 350M and 360M are available only for the
    W870 and W860 (for now).

There is nothing new for the M570TU and looks like this is the end of the line for it.

Just installed Windows 7 Professional (64) and used all the new W7 drivers. The entire installation was flawless.

Now, has anyone heard when Intel is supposed to release new firmware for their X-25M drives that is supposed to take advantage of the TRIM command?
I seem to recall hearing something about the new firmware would come out soon after the W7 release. But I still don't see anything new at the Intel site.

so do you need to install all the drivers after clean installing windows7? or do you just download and install the "new" windows7 drivers?

Is there a reason to install these if the drivers you are using arent having problems?

also what is the matrix driver for, and why would someone need a raid driver when the m860tu has only one harddrive bay?

    That's a good question.
After Windows 7 finished I had about 4 yellow exclamation marks in device manager. So, I didn't need to install all the drivers I downloaded. But I decided to experiment. I loaded every W7 driver listed on the Sager site.

When I was running the Windows 7 RTM version, I only installed the "Vista drivers" I needed to make all the hardware work. If W7 had already recognized it, I left it alone. But I decided to do it a little differently when Sager released official W7 versions.

    So far so good.....

I am (seriously) willing to take a considerable bet against the M86 receiving a new GPU.

The chipset has AHCI/RAID support and the laptop has more than 1 sata channel internally, even if there is only one hard drive bay. (esata connections or not connected for the rest of the channels)

For example the D901C internally has support for 6 sata drives but you can only hook up 3 unless you have mad soldering skills.

If I recall the M860tu has 1 Esata port. You should be able to say hook up 2 identical hard drives, one internal, one esata, and RAID0 them if there is BIOS support.
They might have disabled the BIOS options for this though, considering there is only 1 drive bay.
Also this newer laptop might have a sata connection for its DVD drive.

This is a real newbie question, but if I just bought my computer (NP8662), should I assume that it has all of the driver updates from before say, October, already pre-installed?

Also does it matter what order the drivers and BIOS updates are installed in? There were around 15 updates for my computer from October 23 or later.

I installed all of these upgrades on my 8662 , the only one worth installing is the UPEK fingerprint reader and the hotkey util. The first works a lot better, the second looks alot better with the OSD.

the rest of the upgrades seem to be superficial in terms of specific Win7 functionality, i.e. it looks like they have simply replackaged the vista drivers with not alot of optmisation.

    Neil.

The Windows 7 Video Driver gave me a lower 3dmark06 score than the current 8.15.11.8585 vista driver. I get 15015 with 8.15.11.8585 and 10403 with 8.15.11.8647 (new win 7 driver). Guess I'll keep the old one.

You mean 10515, right? A slide of 100 pts means zero change in gaming applications.

I asked this in the general M860ETU thread, but perhaps this thread is more appropriate.

I installed my Windows 7 upgrade and updated most of my drivers for good measure (including the hot key driver). The only thing that isn't working like it did in Vista is the on screen volume graphic that appeared when you use Function F5 or F6 to raise or lower the volume.

Did I miss a driver for that? Any thoughts?

Forgot to install the hotkey driver..thx :). So just installed the new Win 7 driver for the m570tu. Now I do get the graphic display and it looks different from when I used Vista. That could be cause I got it from sager site though.

    Maybe check the version again.
