My system is not quiet at all. I think I still have the old fan model and someone mention that there is some new fan out really quiet. Mine are the chromish one. If there is really a model, where can i brough that from?

I would email Xotic PC's or Sager's service department.

Xotic PC would probably be more willing to work with you as far as getting the newer one.

That said, I'm not sure you're going to see much improvement. It still has to move a lot of air to cool that monster i7-920x and ATI card.

    Edit:
RJTech has it on their site for $35, maybe the pic is old, couldn't hurt to fire off an email and ask:

I think the fans are interchangeable and RJ's website seems to indicate this, however the part numbers are different in the service manual:

    W860CU Fan Module: 6-31-w860s-102
    W870CU Fan Module: 6-31-w870s-101

Might want to fire an e-mail off to make sure.

So the fans that are included in a w860cu from rjtech (if you buy from them now) are the new fans already? Or is there really a new fan for the w860cu?

    Thanks for the info !

So I guess the new fan should be quieter but since they are smaller they won't perform as good !? Mine do really alot of noise and it's bugging me.

Am I deaf? I don't even notice mine at all unless the room is ABSOLUTELY silent. And that will never ever happen. :D

yeah, I thought this thing was going to be a lot louder than it is after reading in the owners' lounges that people thought it was like a jet engine... But my NP5760 and Inspiron 8200 made a lot of racket, so I may have low standards..

I wasn't asking if the W860CU and W870CU fans are backward compatible.

I was asking if there are "new" fans for both the W860CU and W870CU.

I cannot confirm if there are for the W870, but the new W860s (mine arrived April28) do indeed have fans with dull painted metal instead of shiny metal on top... So they may be new, or Clevo just decided to spray some flame retardant on the fan enclosures..

They are not silent. But even combined they also aren't even as bad at as my M570U's main fan.

    @ BaronGalf

What CPU and GPU temps do you get idle and under load?

Idle I'm at 49'c cpu and 55'c gpu (oc at 851/1150) and 62'c cpu and 73'C gpu under load. My cpu can't overclock at all, it just reboot my system. My temp idle without oc is 48'c

73c gpu load at 851/1150? Crazy. I get higher temps on the gpu at stock setting I think. Of course maybe my ambient temps are hotter than yours?

I'm not complaining about max temperatures as they are fine.

I just wish that fans would engage at 60C for CPU and 50C for GPU and not earlier...
