I got a 8800M GTX replacement for install in my sager 5793, I cleaned it with arcticlean, used Arctic Silver 5 with the line method, put the sink on and put everything together. It powers on and works and goes to black screen with windows icon, then it beeps and just shuts off. I tried to take the sink off and look at the as5 and I could see it was nicely spread. I also put the 3 thermal spread cushions on the appropriate modules as they were on my last gpu, so I don't know whats not installed properly.
It comes in a copper housing and I'm snapping it shut and as far as I can tell the purple pads are touching the other modules.
Can anyone help? Thanks!

Maybe the paste is not spread good. I always use the dot method and works perfect. Do not press the heatsink on it, but lay it on the gpu and torque the screws in the right order.
When that is not the problem you have a bad gpu! Is it a new card?
EDIT: the card is missing parts on the board so it can never work good: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/605217-can-i-use-arctic-silver-5-8800m-gtx.html -
When you say torque the screws do you mean 'screw them in'? Thanks! -
I mean in te right order....
But your saying that the paste is spread good over de GPU so i think you got another dead one!
Get yourself a new Quado FX 3700M from Ebay!! -
Ya it looks like I might have. I think I might try and get a refund and buy a whole new system. Maybe the Asus G73.
New installation of 8800M GTX help.
