Hi, just registered but have been reading the last couple of months while planning and buying my new laptop. As you can see I went for a rebranded m57Xru.

I need some advice though. Hopefully you can see from the attached just how low its graphics score is for aero. This isn't normal is it I've seen results on here from the same machines for far far more. Anyone know why its 3.0?

Thanks in advance and hi!

PS: edited to say it has of course got 4gb of ram but being 32bit its using 3.

    What driver do you have?

Note: WEI is not a very accurate or realisitc benchmark, it gives different scores for people with the same config.

    Your welcome

Although 169.xx are the newest ones out, usually 167.43 works best for most people.

what power mode were you using when OS obtained that sore for the first time? you might want to re-run it while plugged to AC and on High Performance mode.

btw. hkman is right about WEI - it's not accurate at all..

Despite being a well paid IT guy this is my first day on Vista so please bear with me :)

It was on AC (I know becuase I started to run it while it wasn't and it told me to plug in) but I'm not sure what High performance mode is.

Go to the bottom right hand corner and under the power options on the battery icon, select high performance.

It looks like you have a microsoft driver. Look at your driver version. 6.0.6*** is a micrsoft driver version number. Also, it states you have a DX9 driver. AERO works best with DX10. I suggest you install the driver from your driver disc.

I have the latest drivers installled...why do you say they are MS? Is dx9 and higher not dx10?

Where do I get the latest clevo drivers if mine are not upto date ? The VERY latest are on their website but have a 5hour download time due to their slow servers.

When I look at MS drivers, they start with the same numbers as the driver version number on your jpg.

The last 5 numbers in your driver version should be 16743.

Where did you get your drivers?

From Sager's website: For XP 6.14.11.6743, For Vista 7.15.11.6743.

My AERO score from stock drivers is 5.9

I got my drivers from the laptop supplier...Novatech in the UK. Where should I get new ones from...I thought they were pretty new ones.

I can't work it out. 3.0 for aero is an awful score even for a laptop. Most laptops with slower CPUs, less ram and on board gpus get higher than 3.0. Its weird!

Once again, dont trust WEI. BUt maybe your Memory is running at lower clock frequencies, download Nvidia ntune and post the clocks of the Memory. (Should be around 667 right?)

Sorry, I've been away for a couple of days. I'll do some more testing tonight. I'm still concerend that even with the driver changes, will it really change the performance that much? I know you say not to worry to much about the windows score but something must be wrong to give me a 3 surely?

I'll try getting some benchmarks tonight and posting them. I need to download some new drivers too.

Thanks for all your help again.

His gaming score for a 8800 is only 4.4 also...I know we all agree that WEI isn't trustworthy, but on my 8600 i get higher than that...so something is weird

I wouldn't put too much weight into a WEI score. If you're really concerned, after you've managed to find the latest driver, go download 3dmark06 and see how it compares to other's scores. Your machine should score at least 9000.

If it doesn't, then you should be concerned and contact someone about repair/return.
