Hey guys, just got my m860tu and it has the black tape/foil covering the vents. Should i leave it or take it off? These temps are after 15 minutes of dead space maxed out:

    ACPI: 86

    Proc: 70/73

    GPU: 83

    HDD: 54

This looks high to me, is it normal?

The ACPI looks a bit high, otherwise its ok. Dead Space gives high celsius on many m860s, including mine.

Yeh, everything is within limits. Remember, its a LOT of power packed into a small frame. This level of performance is supposed to only be found on laptops of 17" for a reason. Only one company has been able to get a successful 15" with this power. (And its not Alienware)

You forget the Asus G50vt (either -X1 or -A1/A2) :p

Specs says a GS ( http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-g50vt-p-2479.html) but according to a .Bestbuy review, its a GT ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=311122). But the G50vt-X1 is only $1250, which justify the little difference gap ( http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4700). Its obviously not as powerful as the M860TU, but I believe it should be considered in the purchasing process, as it is in the same level as the M860TU + it has some nice features like face recognition or mini OLED screen.

    Yeah plus its cheaper.

Overall I'd go with the M860TU myself :p
