    Hey!

    I'm a new proud owner of a P150HM (2760QM, 6990M) and completely love it!

However, I'm a bit curious - I find it kind of noisy.. Maybe it's because I'm unused to having a mechanical disk, in my last 'puter I only had the one SSD, now I have the same SSD but also a 7200rpm HDD (instead of an optical drive), but I'm unsure..

The temps look alright to me.. My last computer was almost completely silent when idling, whereas this new one has a constant fan-noise when idling. On a side note I'm always using it on a hard surface or even a laptop cooler. I'm using Catalyst v11.11 w/ diver packaging version 8.911-111025a-128246C-ATI.

Sort of related; (when) is the integrated GPU (Intel HD Graphics 3000) on the CPU used? I feel it would be a good idea to use it instead of the 6990 when working in non-demanding environments (ie. windows/the web)

Another thing I just noticed is the model of the computer is P150HM x? Any idea what the x stands for?

    Thanks :)

Those temps look pretty normal for idle. The reason you hear the fans spinning up more often is due to the thresholds set by the EC (embedded controller). Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done short of downclocking the CPU/GPU. I don't know what your last laptop was, but you also have to keep in mind that the high power and performance of these parts typically mean they produce a lot more heat that needs dissipated.

As far as integrated graphics, they are never used on this model. The AMD GPU is wired directly to the screen and the integrated Intel graphics are not hooked up or enabled.

This should answer your question on the model numbering:

The hdd is louder and slower than my last one (wd black) but I think the cooling system is great. There are MUCH louder fans that do a worse job at cooling believe me lol

I, too, am a new P150HM owner :) happy to finally join the club.

    my temps are here (idle):

the funny this is that HWMonitor reports that my CPU is a 2720QM ?? lol.. that would be nice free upgrade if that were true. windows device manager correctly identifies my CPU as the 2670.. weird..? anyone know why this is?

anyhow.. another question. I noticed that Sager's driver site only has ICC color calibration profiles for the nvidia GTX cards.. are there no calibration profiles for AMD based cards?? how can I calibrate my screen (have the 95% glossy).

^ Maybe hwmonitor hasn't been updated to recognize the new processors yet. Notice OP screenshot and that 2670 has same clock as 2720 (non turbo)

And yeah I meant the cooling systems in other laptops suck. If only I still had my XPS, I'd love to do a side by side noise comparison video. Also the thing idled over 15C higher...
