    Hello guys,

I have had my new laptop for about 2 weeks now and been playing FFXIV on it with no problems. Love everything about this laptop. What I was just wondering was I got a really weird question to ask you guys. I am reading the post on here about people are able to turn on their fan speed by using the fn+1 and to turn on their turbo button fn+4? Well reason I asked is because mine two functions is neither of those. My fn + 1 is to turn on/off the trackpad and the fn + 4 is for sleep mode. I can really careless about those two functions because I barely need to turn on the fan and I can manually set the turbo button. I was just wondering if any of you guys have this two functions on your NP8170 laptop? I will upload the picture as soon as I can to show you guys. Thanks!

    BTW, my following specs are....

    2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM, 2.2-3.1GHz
    ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 6990M 2048MB
120GB Intel 520 Series Solid State Drive
    500GB Seagate XT 7200 RPM
    Sager Intel® Advanced-N 6230
6X Blu-Ray Read/8X DVDRW Super Multi Combo Drive
IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU
    8GB - DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Installed

You are pressing F1 instead of 1. You can adjust the fans by pressing FN + 1... not FN + F1. :)

Sorry to sort of derail the thread, but I have a quick question for you, OP. I am in the market for a new laptop to play FFXIV on (my old one - now dead - was woefully inadequate). You mentioned you have been playing it no problem. What kind of settings do you play it on? How many FPS are you getting? What are your temperatures like?

I have to get on the setting menu later and give you the exact setting that I have use. But it is mostly high, shadow lowest and I have turn off shadow animation completely in the game. And when I ran fraps, I am getting 43-50 FPS when fighting Ifrit/Moogle with the temp of 65-69c playing for 1+ hours.
