Congrats on the order and welcome to the Sager club. Let us know you thoughts or questions once you get it.

I'd have bought at least the W350ET, but thats good too.
gt650m vs gtx660m.... -
I was thinking about it, but chose the NP6165 since from reading about the difference in graphics, its only a 10% better performance. I mostly wanted a laptop to get back into PC gaming since I got a Mac and have been using it throughout my undergrad studies. Its been lonely playing indie games while all my friends were on Guild wars 2 and other PC only games lol.
This is my first big online purchase so I'm pretty worried about its safety when it's in-transit as well as hoping things will be smooth when it turns on. -

Lol @ the first paragraph.
They're pretty robust laptops, waulnut. There's always a concern for freight handling, but there really aren't too many instances - at least on our end - where the package is mishandled. And they're usually packaged very securely, so hopefully that puts your mind at ease.
Hopefully you enjoy your new machine! And as Hutsady said, we're here to help you out with any questions or concerns! -
Thanks for the reassurance Prostar. :hi2:
I'll update how it goes once it comes. -
I am back! Just got the email my notebook is being shipped will arrive some time Tuesday
Since this will be my first time using PC again after 3 years and as my first custom built notebook, is there any steps/precautions I should take when I get it?
My uncle has told me to get a recovery disk before I install/do anything to the computer and I've read online to check if there are any dead pixels (though I didn't get the guarantee no dead pixel offer) so i'm not sure if want to bother searching for them unless its real obvious.
I was also told about CPU-Z to check the internal parts to make sure I got what I ordered.
I might be getting ahead of myself as the notebook hasn't arrived, but better to be prepared when it does come than die waiting for responses on the day of arrival lol

Creating a backup is an excellent first step, otherwise just check the graphics drivers are up to date and you are good to go

My notebook is finally here! I waited for the whole day and it arrived in the evening before dark. The outer box was a bit beat up, but the second box with the laptop inside was perfect condition. From ordering to delivery, it took approx 2 weeks.
Some quick assessment:
Weight: A bit hefty to what I am used, but it is my desktop replacement for the time being. Hard to compare my MBP to this.
Screen: The screen is thin and with some slight pressure you can feel it flex a bit so the case isn't too sturdy, but I wouldn't put anything heavy on top of my notebook anyway. No dead pixels, which is a relief.
Body/Fan: The body is solid and feels strong. The fan does sound noticeably loud when it ramps up.
Keyboard: Nothing loose or feels like it has bad quality. Firm when pressed and pops back up quick.
Touchpad: It has a rough texture, which I think would help recognize that it is being touched. My Mac had issues where if my fingers were too dry, it didn't recognize I was trying to use the mouse.
Finger Sensor: Great feature. I can sign in to the computer without having to type my password. The sensor does protrude a small bit, so it might be possible to somehow damage it through usage or accidentally scratching it.
I haven't installed games on it yet, but will soon :hi2: -
Oh let us know if that GPU button works? Does it allow you to force it to use the integrated Intel GPU or the dedicated Nvidia? Thanks.
-
From what I've read and tried, it seems that the "VGA" button can force it to use the Intel GPU only. The other option is the switching of iGPU to dGPU it seems.
Does anyone know how can I use my headphone - out with my mic built-in to my earphone? I can hear, but I can't use my mic. It uses my computer's built-in mic.
I forgot to mention, I'm trying to do this on Skype. -
you need to access the audio devices manager from the control panel.

I doubt clevo would do such a major motherboard revision without some fanfair.
Usually buttons switch off the internal display so you can use an external only without messing around too much. -

So I've been trying to figure this out but I couldn't even from trying to mess around with the recording devices and the VIA HD Audio Deck.
Can someone give me the step-by-step to make my in-ear headphone with built-in mic work? -
As far as i know the headset port on the laptop will only recognize the headset function. Its not like on a smartphone that can recognize both the headset and mic. So you really have to buy a separate mic and plug that to the dedicated mic port right beside the headset port or just use the built in mic.
also, install some games on that laptop! dota 2 perhaps?

Yes, heatsets will only work if they are USB based or they have a 3.5mm jack dedicated to the mic.

i suppose that upon a more careful reading of your question, the answer is more like: you'd know if your headset allowed you to use the mic jack because it'd have it's own plug--or it'd be usb like meaker suggests. you can tell if your headset w/ mic is one of the ones that daryldeal's referring to because it will have three lines (i.e. three channels) around the plug. i suggested that you troubleshoot your audio devices because i assumed you already had everything connected.
