Hi, im new to the Sager/Clevo side of the forums because I recently purchased an alienware m15x which turned out to be the biggest mistake ever.. (I dont know if anyone has been following the m15x problems).. Im opting for a refund which Im gonna get in 24 hours..

From the alienware forums ive heard alot about Sager all good things.. I was looking at purchasing the Sager NP5793.. I was just wondering if you guys can fill me in about how solid these notebooks are and if people have been having alot of problems with them etc. I dont know if i can handle what i went through with alienware again..

    Thanks in Advance!!!

The Clevo M570RU (aka. Sager 5793) is probably the best bang for the buck 8800M GTX notebook.

Look at the Clevo Guide and the M570RU Owners Thread.

They should answer most of your questions.

    Here's my review: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=252139

I wrote that after I had owned the system for less than 24 hours, so I have a little more to say at this point. The performance and the construction of the notebook are top notch. I'm really impressed with how well the 8800 handles, even at 1920x1200 and maxed settings with most games.

I too am a former m15x user. I returned my system when it had severe issues with the response rate of the keyboard. It was not fixed when I sent the system in for repairs, and so I asked for a clean break from the machine.

The only complaint I have about my Sager is ...the same thing. On this computer, however, it's there to a MUCH lesser extent. On the m15x, it made the system more or less unusable...on this it's an occasional minor inconvenience. This also seems to be a pretty common issue with many brands of laptops because both the keyboard and trackpad communicate with the motherboard through a shared ps/2 bus. This can occasionally cause mixed signals and response errors blah blah.

In short, go with Sager. This laptop is awesome...if you look through these forums, you'll see almost no "help me!" or "problem!" threads. compare that to alienware.

also, @ bigjohn, yeah...it sucks. I've had an AW desktop since 2005, and it's still kicking...i don't dislike alienware as a brand...i just think they made one sucky product..it's a shame that it's giving their whole company such a bad reputation...wish they would handle it better.

There are a few complaints that a lot of the 5793s seem to have in common. The ones I can think of off the top of my head are noisy fans with very rudimentary fan control and cheap audio jacks. On the whole, however, most posters who've bought one appear to be generally satisfied with the quality of what they got, although many keep wishing for the moon in terms of what they'd really like to have gotten in a perfect world. Ah well, one's reach should always exceed one's grasp. :D

You'll probably have other people doing the same as you. I am still to receive my laptop back from repairs, but I'm not feeding many hopes.
