I believe my wireless card is running poorly. Some programs work fine with the internet while others, firefox, crashes my connection making me reset the modem. I posted this information in the networking section of this forum and it suggested that my wireless card was bad. Using a variety of other wireless routers I still have connection issue suggesting that the card is the problem even though the router is also known to be unreliable. Wired connection works fine.

I decided to post on the sager forum section to see if others have had similar problems and what cards they used to fix it.

    Thanks.

My laptop is a sager NP9150
wireless card is realtek rtl8723ae wireless lan 802.11n pci-e nic
driver version is 2002.1.1201.2011 and then updated as suggested
    OS is windows 7
router is a linksys wrt120n (installed the latest firmware today)
    modem is a zoom 5341j
    ISP is Cox

Sorry to hear about the issues. Are you looking for alternate wireless card option suggestions? Do you use bluetooth on the computer, do you do online gaming wirelessly?

Yes I would like to get another wireless card. I do play some games online mostly from Blizzard. I seldom use the bluetooth capability of the card, maybe once a year. I don't want to pay a fortune as my laptop is getting on it's years.

    Suggestions are appreciated.

The Intel 6300 would be a good option and match for your router. You wont have bluetooth at all though, but it can use all three antenna installed in the notebook for max speed and range.

If you're considering replacing the card, check your antennae while you've got the machine open. A loose or improper connection yield problems. The 6300 is a pretty darn good card, in any case, as long as you don't want/need Bluetooth.

I have the NP9170 and am looking for a wireless card also. The 6300 should work for my computer too correct?

Not quite sure what the differences in the listings are. The one you linked should work though.

I do not have a 6300 but a 6205 and it a great card with good reception. You can get them ebay for $5.00 or so. Just stay away from any wireless card that was in a HP or Lenovo as it will not work as they lock the cards to there systems . I us all look for something out of a Dell.

The nice thing about the 6300 is that it can use 3 antennae which give it a strong reception even with devices using few spacial streams.

I tried to install the Intel Half Centrino Ultimate-n 6300 Pci-e Card 633anhmw 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4 Ghz this past weekend and I was unable to get my laptop to download the appropriate driver. It recognized that I switched the wireless card but was unable to configure after that. I tried turning my wireless on and off with no luck. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Admittedly I'm unsure on which antenna goes where. The stock wireless card for the NP9150 has only two antennas while the new one I purchased has three slots. The only distinction on the antenna ports that I could see were little colored triangles. On the old card there was a black triangle and a white triangle the new card had black, white, and grey triangles. So I matched the cables from the old card to the new one leaving the grey triangle empty. Was that incorrect?

    Thanks for any help.

What driver set did you download prior to the switch?

I didn't download any drive. I don't know what the right driver is. I looked with my wired connection but didn't find any. Did I get the antenna's connected properly?

They can be connected to any basically.

If you google "Intel 6300 driver" choose the top result and then your OS you will get the right driver.

Thanks for the help. I grabbed the wrong program at first (some PSMT file under the same driver directory) but did eventually find this link, https://downloadcenter.intel.com/do...-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-7-. I included it for those who might be following in my footsteps. As for the antenna question, it would appear that matching the antennas according to the color coded triangles on the wireless cards will work.

Each are independent channels which the card will scan to find the best signal from, so it's fine whatever you use.
