hi guys. i bought my Nexoc Osiris E703 III that should actualy be a Sager 5760 or a Clevo M570U right?
for now i'm very pleased with it. the only problem that i have is that i can't get digital out to work for me . i still don't know if the output connector is a mini jack or is it a mini toslink (optical). i tryed connecting the regular mini jack in the laptop's digital out and the other end (RCA connector) to my Yamaha reciever but i just don't get any sound from this connection. i enabled affcourse the output in the control panel.
can you help me about this please or give me some tips?

btw is it possible to damage the digital connector if i plug the regular mini jack into it, and it was mini toslink because on the net i found out that this female connector fits with both plugs?
i tryed checking the connector visualy but i can't see any light coming out of it and it should transmit some if it is a tos link, right?

    thanks,

    hi. thanks for the reply.
i read that thread before and i did it exacly like but it doens't work.
so i was wondering that maybe I need an optical connection to my laptop, but i don't see any light comming out of the socket so...?
    it's just not working.
i connected one end rca to my yamaha reciever and the other side mono mini jack to my laptop but i get no sound :(.
i enabled the spdif and tryed with ac3filter and ffdshow to send the pure ac3 to the reciever but nothing is transfered. also i supose i should always have sound even in windows right? it was always working like that with my audigy and ad-on card on my desktop computer.
    any toughts?

    thanks

there is not optical out, only SPDIF

You are probably not doing something right. I have tested this many times.

    1) go into Realtek Audio HD Manager
    2) (under Audio I/O) choose 6CH (or 8CH) Speakers
    3) (under Audio I/O) enable the SPDIF port under the DIGITAL section
    4) hit OK
    5) connect your cable from black port (on the back of the notebook) to your receiver

it should work, make sure you check your volume control and see if the volume for the channels (front, rear, center) are all up and not muted.

i did everithing like that but it doesn't work. i now it SPDIF connection but if I'm not mistaker there are 2 types of SPDIF or digital connection. a digital coax and digital optical. i had both on my add-on card for Audigy 1 on the desktop comp.
on this one it's not working :(.

    its digital coax.

its more than likely a problem with the software configuration...
    - SPDIF connection must be enabled to digital
    - must be set to 6CH.. or maybe 8CH
    - do a test in the Realtek Audio manager to see if the multi speakers are heard.

in my opinion the 6ch (analog) output doesn't have anything to do with spdif. the test works flawlessly. with analog connection. i have connected my lap to the reciever throu analog connections (3x mini jacks) but that's not what i prefer for watching movies with AC3 format. i want to be able to send pure AC3 to the reciever.
