Please Help!
I am running Windows 7 and audio out from my headphone jack is dead. Audio from Speakers and HDMI out works but not from Audio Out.
Sager has suggested I uninstall and reinstall the Hotkey utility and reboot, but that made no difference. Even if I just try to uninstall it and go without it, same thing.
I tried reinstalling all relevant Audio dirvers (VIA and SB) but nothing helped.
I read about a fix where some people had this issue and they ran InitHeadphones.exe in the Hotkey folder, but I don't have that file in my folder. I've tried reinstalling the Hotkey utility several times

Make sure you totally uninstall the hotkey package, reboot, install the latest hotkey package, reboot.
You can't install it over the other. -
Thanks for your answer.
I tried uninstalling the HK utility - and rebooting, still had no sound. I then reinstalled it and rebooted, still no sound
I then even tried the Windows 8 Hotkey Utility ( i have windows 7 and I previously tried the windows 7 hotkey utility) as The W8 hotley utility's folder contains a file called "initHeadphones.exe" which some people said it solved the issue if they ran it, no difference.

I've also experimented with uninstalling and reinstalling the Via audio drivers, and the SB audio drivers, rebooting in between each attempt, no sound still.
Speakers work fine, and HMDI out works fine, and if I plug in a jack I get the Via audio notification that a jack has been plugged / unpluggged, but sound is still not restored.
This is very important to me as I make music and I cannot rely on HMDI out (too much audio latency) but I'm utterly out of ideas -
You probably will need to RMA the board then. The only two things left to try are
1 - A board EC clear
2 - A windows reinstall
The first one, I want you to unplug your laptop and remove the battery and let it sit there for a while. If you can do it, leave it this way say... overnight? And see if it works in the morning when you replug in everything. It may fix any odd board issues.
Next of course is windows reinstalling. I DO NOT THINK windows is your problem. Not at all, not even close. I just don't. It makes zero sense. So if you are not willing to try a Windows reinstall then you should just RMA it. It probably is a broken connector or something.
To further prove it's a broken jack of some kind, you should get a 5.1 speaker system and use it on the analog jacks. If the left/right speakers produce no audio but the center/subwoofer and rear speakers produce audio (using different jacks) OR your line-in mic from a headset uses different jacks, then you're definitely proving it's a problematic jack. -

Are you checking the Playback devices to make sure that the audio out is defaulting to what you connect?
And you are suppose to have a hotkey directory in C:\Program Files (x86).
