I read the manual that comes with the M860tu from Kobalt... and it says that the 9800 GT card won't give sound output via a HDMI lead. Has anybody tried this yet and found this to be an accurate statement?

What lead would I have to buy seperately then to hook up alongside the HDMI lead if I am going to be running movies from an external drive via the laptop and into a HD TV?

Hmmm what is meant by 9800 GT won't give sound? I thought the 9800 GT is a graphics card. That should have nothing to do with sound?

    Hi.

Have a look in the audio setting is the control panel , I have 2 on my Samsung and 1 normal sound through the notebook speakers and 1 is for sound though the hdmi cable to the TV.

I dont know if you will have the hdmi sound option but it`s worth a look!

    Regards

    John.

All you have to do is right click on the speaker at the bottom right on the screen, hit playback devices, and select 'realtek digital output' as default, then HDMI will output sound as well.
