Laptop was working fine. Shut it down and went out to dinner with my family. When we got home I went to start it back up and.... Nothing.

Power light comes on, amber Bluetooth light comes on (both solid) about 3-5 seconds later one of the fans kicks in and about 3-5 seconds after than it powers itself off again.

Spoke with Origin... Rep I was working with - Jacob - was fantastic. We pretty much disassembled the entire laptop over the phone. Removed and reseated the primary and secondary memory, processor, video card, wifi card, and keyboard.

Nothing worked to correct the issue.... So it's going back to them for depot service Monday morning.

As a last resort I even pulled the CMOS battery myself and left it overnight hoping for a miracle... No such luck. Still will not start up.

Screen doesn't do anything, I 'think' I can hear the optical drive try to do something just before it dies. In 17+ years of being in IT I have never had a machine - especially mine - fail to post.

    Any ideas what happened?

My weekend now pretty much sucks... I almost feel physically ill. It's kind of like that feeling you get when you get the first dent or a paint chip in your new car.

I have no idea but you shouldn't be to down in the dumps. At least you are getting it repaired. If Origin can't fix it, you get a new comp =) Look on the bright side.

Also, why is Origin not on NBR?

I know electronics fail, I deal with failed stuff all day a work. I've just never had something working perfectly just die with no explainable reason or obvious cause.

I'm confident Origin can fix it but I still feel badly... As my family will attest, it was my 'baby'.

Personally, I think Origin needs to be on NBR if not in their own forum, active in this one. Thought Richard does drop in from time to time. They took over the old Alienware forum over at OriginNiche.com after Alienware dumped them. Folks over there are very nice and helpful, but they aren't nearly as active as it is over here.

I know how you feel...my first Clevo-Baby (from years ago) had a similar way of playing with my emotions.

What I would do to cheer me up with such a high-end configuration and if I had to send it in anyway is swapping the 485m for a 580m! Not a big of a boost, but a good way to max out not only the situation. ;)

Good luck anyway! You are in good hands with Origin...wish I had to deal with them on my first Baby...too :)

    Jubei,

Wish it was that simple! My R2 is a P.O.S! Over half my games won't work due to outdated driver support for the 'Alien-ized' video cards. That's why I jumped ship from them and went with Origin.

My R2 is now used by my parents as a plain old Internet PC. Even doing that, it's been crash happy since day one.
