Well, I replaced my E6850 with a E8400 and now my NP9261 reports: "No TPM or TPM has problem". It will not boot.
Current Bios Revision: 1.00.05 LS2
KBC/EC Firmware Revision: 1.00.03N
Do I need a new Bios, any ideas?

Does it boot with the old processor? I'm getting the TPM is screwing you around since you changed a major component.
Swap the old processor back in, disable TPM, swap new processor in, enable TPM. -
Thanks Greg, I replaced the good old E6850 and am running again.
My (fairly old 1.00.05 LS2) BIOS detects the processor all right but doesn't want to boot. It doesn't even give me an error message or BSOD but just leaves me with a blank screen. The BIOS doesn't have a TPM enable/disable selector.
Do you know another way to disable the TPM, any other clues? -
Upgrade your bios

I believe that the NP9261 does not have a TPM - if I recall correctly, I think that the original 9260 had the module but that Clevo removed the module in subsequent revisions.
Why changing the CPU would trigger a TPM warning beats me though. -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
TPM is some kind of hardware protection right? Why should it affect the CPU change?
-
Shyster , that was with the 5790 upgrade to 5791.
I have never heard of a TPM removal in the 9261.
But, I could be wrong, I`m only a car. -
You are right. This message, the 9261 does not have a TPM. Beats me why the BIOS reports this in diagnostics mode. It does not seem related to the problem. I am updating my BIOS and will see if the E8400 will work... tomorrow...

As said above get a newer BIOS.

Thanks guys for helping me out and thanks Sagernotebook for sending me their most recent Bios and Firmware updates.
After updating the Bios to version 17, my NP9261 boots with its new E8400 processor. This processor replaces a E6850, runs cooler and 10-15% faster. Not a big deal but I was tempted...
I decided against the Q9450 which probably would have worked in my system as well. The applications I normally use do not benefit from a Quad and this Q9450 was twice as expensive (EUR 299 versus EUR 159).
Wprime 1.55 scored 29secs with my E6850 and 25secs with the E8400. That was to be expected.
