As the title suggests, wondering about noise comparison of the 2 models. I have searched, but haven't been able to find a comparison between these 2 (currently own a P170HM). I do find P170HM a bit loud, so if the P170SM is louder, then I may end up paying more for less and going for an Asus G750JX which I gather is the quietest of the gaming laptops (though I'd end up paying ~150 GBP more for the same setup with a worse videocard - 770M, worse than the 8970M I can get in the Clevo).

As a lot of the people here seem to be longtime Clevo users, I am hoping for responses from those who have both. For what it's worth, my P170HM has the 485M gpu in it.

    Thanks a lot in advance

One issue right now is Clevo has some sort of EC or fan profile issue.

I don't have the 17" ver but right now have P150HM and P157SM.

The P157SM GPU is much more silent and runs very cool vs. the older model. The CPU fan however is much louder, the lowest level is like the second bump on my old laptop. It also gets stuck on high sometimes.

I suspect similar may be true for the 17". They actually both old and new seem to use the same fans, just the profile tweaked different and better heatsyncs on these new ones.

So in all they should be about the same IF Clevo makes some more adjustments to EC.

Thanks for the reply, mate. Any chance someone with the P170SM can confirm this? I was under the impression that the P157/P177SM had a slightly different cooling system than the P150/P170SM, not to mention that 17" should be a bit cooler than the 15"?
