    Hey guys,

I am thinking about ordering the Sager NP8651 (Clevo P650SE) today, but I had a few questions. First, is the 1080p screen really that bad? If it is, is the 4K worth it? I heard that scaling can be an issue and it might be worth just getting the 1080 and buying another panel and just replacing it. The problem is I have no idea how to do that and I really do not want to mess anything up. So about SSD's. I think that I would order it off of XOTICPc and in their config menu, there are all of these different options with SSD's. Is there a difference between mSATA SSD's and just a second hard drive in the form of an SSD? It already comes with a 1TB HDD. Also what is RAID storage and should I just choose the non-RAID option? I am hoping to keep the total coast at or under $1800 max after customizing it, any suggestions on what I should choose are welcome.

Here is a link to the config page so you can see what I am talking about if I am not making sense: XOTIC PC | Sager NP8651 (Clevo P650SE) - 15.6" Gaming Notebook

    Thanks in advance
    -Matt

    I'll answer the screen question:

Everyone has their own opinions and a couple of people on these forums are not fans of the screen AT ALL. I have the laptop myself and I believe that the screen is sufficient enough for my tastes that I don't need to change it out or anything of the sorts. I will add that the brightness could have been a lot better in terms of maximizing it, and that the colors are actually not that bad as some people will say. if you like high color gamut or bright colors, you're probably not going to find it here for your own tastes but this screen is good enough for anything. The pictures you see on here of other people's screens are not going to show that exact screen view as you would in person, and in my case it was better. Stick with your gut and hope this helps.

TL;DR Brightness isn't the best, colors are fine (PS: Viewing angles are not terrible but they aren't great.)

RAID-0 would be combining two hard drives into one big hard drive. It's honestly not that worth it unless you have other drives to interact with OR you really really REALLY want as much loading speed as possible for your OS and programs.

Technically the m.2 drives should be faster than simple SATA III, but in practice you're rarely going to see those speeds. Essentially, don't take RAID unless you want to and have similar sized SSDs to do it on (HDDs are almost pointless to raid in terms of speed bonuses).

    Good luck!

Also, if you're not going to run games at 4K, you'll find that your games will not look "just right" if using a lower resolution and NOT using windowed mode. Different people are sensitive to it in different ways; I am VERY sensitive to it, but user Cakefish didn't find it was a problem playing 1080p on a 3K screen. So it's up to you. I personally suggest 1080p for the screen right now; I don't think 4K is worth it if you're going to play lots of the latest games on it and want high settings and native resolution... especially with any single GPU, even a 980M.

thanks man, XOTICPC updated their config options and now there is a 1080p IPS display option so I think I am going to go with that along with just another simple 128gb SSD to go with the 1TB HDD it comes with.

At risk of derailing the thread (apologies), are there any heat issues with this laptop? I'm either getting this or the NP8268 and am not sure which to get, hinging mainly upon heat issues in this model. Anybody have any opinions on the matter?
