After a restart, my Clevo P150EM says NA on the Gpu in bios.. i tried re-mount the gpu 5 times now.. nada, just NA.

I got my original hd7970 at home, im on vacation right now so sadly I cant pinpoint if its rhe mobo or Gpu that failed on me.

Did I just waste 400usd (VAT included) on my splended new gtx1060 6gb?

I really hope its some random software flaw.

    Sorry for my grammar.

Sadly not, the 1060 does not shows in Windows.

    That I have tried is.

    Re-mount the gpu
    Reset the cmos
    Clean the pcie slot

The laptop shuts down auto due to no dgpu, so I got limited time window.

mount the gpu, don't mount the heatsink and see if the core gets hot. if not usually that means a bad gpu

    Will try that one, thanks.

Returned, well, that sucks! No heat at all from the chipset, stone cold.

Wonder if my insurance cover it.

press lightly on the core with your finger and see if it gets hot (it might be some bad solder joints)

A reflow seems legit only if the gpu started to work when you pushed the core with your finger(sugesting bad solder joints). In this case something else is the problem (power delivery or actual dead core).

After reading some old posts about P150EM and 1060 you need to make sure you have the 230w power brick as it does not work with the 180w one. Also from what i read it will show NA in bios but needs to work in windows with inf mod

It has worked flawless until yesterday.

No sign at all in device manager, just the hd4000.

If the core isn't warming up at all then it has a short preventing it from powering on. Bad solder will just make it not work right.

Or the core is damaged and it's not initialising or the voltage circuitry can't power at all as some part of the wake circuitry could be damaged.

Well, if not my insurance company demands that I send the mxm card to them I will surely try to bake it.

But! I will try and see if the laptop recon the stock 7970M before I do the baking on the 1060. Who knows, might be a faulty mobo, but I doubt it.

Unlikely since a lot of the power circuitry is on the board.

    Hello folks.

Seems like I got some cash back from my insurance company, I get 250usd out of the 400usd I spent on the GTX1060 6GB.

Ofc my insurance company want the mxm card, so I can't bake it, so we will never know if a bake would temp fix it.

    Thanks again all!

ps I might buy another 1060 mxm card or save up for a laptop with a rtx3050 around 1000 us dollars range.

Like I have told you before, a reflow (or as you say a bake) seems legit only if the gpu started to work when you pushed the core with your finger(suggesting bad solder joints).
