Hey, just wondering if some other people w/ the 5760 could comment on whether they have the same problem or make a guess as to what the problem is. Sometimes when I leave my computer for some time the LCD screen will turn off. Most of the time I just have to wave my mouse around and it will turn back on but sometimes it seems no matter what I do it will not turn back on.

    Ideas?

its probably went into StandBy Mode

Go to your Control Panel > Power Options

and change the power settings to your preferences.

I would recommend you to set the following options to ensure the longevity of your notebook:

    When Plugged In:
    Turn off monitor: 15mins
    Turn off harddrive: 30min
    Stand by: NEVER
    Hibernate: up to you

    Running on battery:
    Turn off monitor: 5mins
    Turn off harddrive: 5min
    Stand by: NEVER
    Hibernate: up to you

Thanks for the advice. I checked my power options and when plugged in my computer was already set to never go into standby, so it doesn't make sense to me why it would turn the screen off and not have it come back on. Weird... Oh well.

Gophn, can I ask why you seem to dislike standby mode? Is there something wrong with standby mode that I don't know about?

Standby and Hibernate modes has always had a weird issue since Win98... especially in notebooks.

There are a couple of WinXP hotfixes to remedy most of the problems... but not all of them.

Vista is supposed be clean of such problems, but i'm skeptical.

Yeah, Standby and Hibernate have always been a little glitchy.

Try this hotfix (quote from my HEL80 review, but it's a Windows fix in the link):

I tried both of those you linked, and several other ones, but they do no good, as described.
But thanks for the help anyway..
