I am running CPUID Hardware Monitor with my notebook (in spec). Nothing else is running (other than MSN, and a couple other background things). I recently restarted. The computer is idling at the following temperatures:
ACPI: 52 C
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550:
Core 0: 62 C (max 66)
Core 1: 55 C (max 58)
Core 2: 56 C (max 59)
Core 3: 56 C (max 59)
GeForce 9800M GT
#1 Core: 49 C
#2 Core: 44 C
HDD1 (200GB 7.2 RPM): 64 C
HDD1 (320GB 5.4 RPM): 61 C
Are these temperatures normal? They seem a little high. I have my notebook on a fairly large wooden test, with a LOT of room to breath.
-
Compared to the M860TU, these seems to be normal.
-
regarding the hdd, i hear anything above 55 C is bad, some say anything above 60 C is bad.
but since ur temps are in the 60s when Idle, i'll worry yea. -
Yeah, most stuff seems normal for a high end laptop there, except again for the hard drive, which are pushing their envelope in terms of their thermal capabilities. From what I hear, Seagate Momentus and WD Scorpios go to 60 degrees, while others get to 55 celsius as their "don't go above - danger" kind of area. I wonder what the drives hit under gaming/load/activity? Care to check?

Your HDD's and CPU are very hot...
The GPU look to be in the normal range. -
Interesting. The CPU was not in usage and neither was the HDD. The second HDD is a storage-only drive and I cannot seem to think why it would be hot. The front area of the keyboard, where I type, is a little warm on the left, cold on the right. The touchpad is slightly warm. The whole underside of the computer is fairly cool. The fan areas are cold. The vents along the back of the computer are slightly warm, not hot though.
Interestingly enough, the temperatures, right now, are:
54/51 for the HDD's. The computer has been running since my last message, with a couple restarts when installing the new drivers. I keep getting 8900 for my benchmarks. It is as if only one of the video cards is working. I get similar numbers when NOT in SLI mode (I was when doing the test). -
This might be of help to you.

Thanks. I hope that is for the D901C as well. Also, I just tested and I am getting the same 3DMark06 results now, regardless of whether I am in SLI or not. This is messed up.

I'm assuming your hdd are together in the cage? Your gpu temps seem surprisingly low for a sli system as for your cpu temps, I have a feeling the system was in a fan cycle. Mine regularly jumps up to 57c and then comes back down to the 47-49 range and the cycle repeats, odd because my fans never turn off for the gpu after it does one cycle, but the cpu fans continue to cycle.
I think your messing around with drivers and the OS to much I read earlier you installed 64bit vista and sp1 and for the last two days you've been testing drivers, odds are you've disabled sli, or during one of your reinstalls, you didn't install the graphics cards properly. -
the D901C has the best cooling, no doubt.
the HDD temps are a bit warm... but thats because they are stacked.
Mine runs around that temp if I am doing big file transfers.
