    Hi All

I just purchased a fully spec'd np9280 from xotic pc. About 2 days after ordering, I got an email from xoticpc requesting verification that i did not order a "notebook cooler."

I indeed had not included one in the order. Was this a mistake not to have gotten one? Is this why they emailed specifically about this feature?

    Thanks

Its not really a mistake. I have the Zalman NC-2000 cooler for it and besides it being alot better to use since the keyboard is at a nice angle for typing it does nothing to cool the notebook - the notebook already has higher legs on the back so the intakes get enough air. Just make sure its on a hard flat surface, so you dont block those fan intakes (using it on a bed, sofa or your legs is a very bad idea).

Good to know. Im pretty much going to treat this thing as a desktop. I just need to be able to put it away when not in use. Thanks for the info.

Many buy a cooler to keep the overall components of the laptop and its chassis cooler since that is likely to give it a longer life. It is not essential, it is a luxury but since we have already invested a high amount of our hard earned cash in our new device, I see a cooler as a good investment.

I find coolers useful for when I use my laptop on surfaces that lack good ventilation, for example watching a movie on a bed or sofa.

I've had the zalman 2000, and now the cryo. The cryo keeps it a bit higher off the desk so more air circulation. But overall, don't expect anything more than a few degrees (F) drop in temperature.
I just got the new zalman 3000, but it compares with the cryo.
I don't know of any cooler that REALLY makes a big difference as to not using just the laptop fans.
